I have whittled down my choice to 2 guns and I need some input. Of those who own them, what are the pros and cons of the FNP USG 45 (not the tactical) and the Glock 21sf (standard mag release, glock rail). I know Kodiak's opinion on the FN and I don't have access to an FN to handle and/or fire. The LGS can get me the 21 for 499.99 plus tax and the FN for799.99 plus tax. Is the FN worth the extra 300 or so bucks?

Not a very good deal on the FNP. You can find them on GunBroker for under $600. I don't have the FNP-45 but do have a couple of other FNs and think highly of them. My bias is toward hammer fired handguns that have safeties. YMMV.

Glock 21sf
+famously reliable
+ easy to shoot trigger, quick draw
+durable
+rust resistant
-big and fat, a G22 wouldn be a better CCW
-the SF frame feels even more blocky than the 21 frame, avoid the sf unless you have small hands
-needs a good holster, I suggest crossbreed and Raven concealment
-trigger is made out of wood, rough wood with sand in it.

FNP 45
+reliable, has FN ever made a bad gun?
+seems nicer than an M9 (if you don't mind plastic)
-big and fat
-slow DA first trigger pull, slow to get out of the holster
-harder to train newbs on the DA/SA trigger, especially decock and reholster

I think the Glock is a better choice overall. It offers higher performance, but requires trigger disipline, and some care to reholster. I'd take a long hard look at the G22, 23, 17,16 and fullsize 1911's as well. I wont carry anything larger than a 1911. Both the above pistols are too fat for me.

The FNP 45 USG is a fantastic pistol. It is built like a tank and accurate as hell. You can't beat the capacity of 15+1 of .45acp. I like the trigger a lot. It is heavy at first in DA, but smoothes out nicely over time. I put Trijicons on mine and it is a great all around pistol. I also like that the gun is built in the USA.

The price you mention is way too much. You can get one for $600 or less.

Haha sounds like something I did a lot in the past. Which of these guns sounds better?
Week later bought something entirely different. Research is great, but it also tends to make you buy something entirely different than your original idea.

Hi, my name is LeonCarr and I am a Glockoholic.

Go even more overboard and get a G21 and an FNP-45 :).

I carry a G21SF every day and it is my favorite handgun, but it it borders on being too big for my hands, even with the slim frame. The FNP-45 I tried on at Cabela's a few weeks back felt really good, and might be a little slimmer front and back and also side to side than the G21SF. I had no problems operating the controls, and it is a very well built handgun. I also like how the 15 round magazines have that rounded skullcrusher looking base plate :).

I have decided that unless I find an unbeatable deal on a used fnp usg 45, I'll just be buyin every 1911 and G21 I can lay my hands on.

hi, im Lee and i am a Glockaholic. it started out with just one G17 18 years ago, and months later i decided i needed a 19 as well. it made sense, if one is good, two would be better, right? shortly after that i decided to retire my S&W revolvers and started carrying Glocks daily, so of course i needed a 26. summer in iowa is hot and i wanted something small to tuck away where nobody would see. same ammo, all my 9mm Glock mags would work in it and i now had plenty of capacity with a couple spare 17 mags in the glove box. then i stumbled on a really good deal on some G18 33rd mags, so of course i needed a second G19...then a third with the OD frame because it was "neat". after that came a 27 simply because i didnt have a .40 pistol....then a 30 and a 36 because i didnt have a Glock .45. i loved the .45 Glocks, so of course i bought a 21. its a daily struggle not to dive into the .357 sig Glocks, i keep telling myself "no more Glocks, no more Glocks".

thanks for letting me share:D
