Like the title suggests. I have a Prostaff Rimfire 3x9 just sitting around and was wondering if it is a good mate to a .22 mag rifle. The literature indicates that it was made for .22LR. Anybody doing this?

Nikon scopes are nice, don't see why it wouldn't work? The 22 rimfire 4x people have used on 357 levers and held up fine.

What kind of rifle?

Since you own the scope, I'd mount it up and give it a try. Perhaps the parallax is set for 50 yards for that Nikon since you say it is a "rimfire" version.

I have a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 on a Zastava MP22 .22 Mag rifle. It is actually a shotgun scope with a parallax of 75 yards. It works fine for me.

It'll be fine on a .22 WMR rifle. What makes the Nikon Prostaff rimfire scopes intended for .22s is that they set the parallax for 50 yards. Most centerfire scopes have it parallax set for 100 yards.
