Pulling Bullets

I hit mine on the anvil of my vise...hard. I've been doing it for years and have never broken it. I believe it's guaranteed for life. I also tighten the cap after every hit and rebound (bounce). The instructions with mine stated the bounce was important.

If you're in to casting what you're shooting and don't mind trashing the bullets, I've used the hammer method, but the easiest and quickest way I've used is to put the correct shell holder in my press and no die. Then raise the round until it's sticking up far enough to grip with a side cutter pliers then just pull it back down. Works like a charm.

I've been looking for a reason to buy a bench press.

I know we all wear proper PPE when handloading, but be especially sure to wear good safety glasses when using a kinetic puller. I had one come apart on me once and had to pull a sliver of plastic out of my cheek.

I've read the instructions for several kinetic pullers over the years, IIRC, they all said to never strike a metal object when using the tool. They usually recommend striking against a piece of wood.

The only wood I've found that seems to work well for the purpose is a Bois D'Ark (bodark) log, using the end grain as a strike face.

If ĺeading is a problem, you may want to consider powder coating.

Just make sure you're whackin' em on a hard surface. like cement or cured blacktop.

I've tried on carpet & it put a hole in it.
The apt manager was not happy.

Lesson learned - try dumb stuff on someone else's property.
That way you know it already, when you buy your own house.

Don't hit it on tile, the tile may crack. I just use the cement slab my shed is on.
Cracked tiles may make SWMBO angry!

Broke the cap on my first impact puller (Cabelas) no spare parts.
Bought the RCBS next, life time warranty.

Dudedog is right. Don't hit tile or you will be sorry like I was. I have carpet in my room but have a paver to whack on. Sometimes it takes a bunch of really hard whacks but the bullet will come out. I haven't used hard cast bullets in a long time for the same reason. In my .357 guns I use Zero jacketed bullets. They are as inexpensive as plated bullets and of good quality with zero leading.
