Pulsating Light VS Normal Light

I' ve been reading a few evaluations of the Gladius and one thing that bothers me is apparently the tailcap "switch" must move approx. 5-7mm to light it up. (About 1/4" in my world).

How much resistance does one encounter moving it this 1/4"? I've had problems in the past with other combat lights with tail cap switches using them in the "syringe" position if the switch offered a lot of resistance, i.e., if they "clicked on/off".

I don't think 1/4" of movement in itself is a problem but if it's against a spring, then it could be trouble.

The more I read about this light, the more I like it though.

How much does one of these lights cost ?
I clicked on the links provided and didn't quickly and easily see any prices:they might be there, I just didn't see them.

EDIT: Ok, I see the MSRP. That is quite a bit more than I anticipated it to be. For half that, I would have tried one but I personally can't see paying $250 for a flashlight with a new unproven feature, and I use a flashlight every day as part of my job.

This light is easily used/deployed in a Syringe Grip. Switch travel is not an issue.

It's really a no-brainer in terms of trying one out.

BlackHawk now offers a 30-day Risk Free Trial. Go to any BlackHawk dealer that sells Night-Ops & buy a light. Don't like it, return it. Get your money back.

Of course my company sells Night-Ops: http://strategosstore.com

Here is what I got from a fellow Las Vegas officer:

Dear Mr. Good,
I am writing to you in reference to the Gladius Night-Ops light that I received a week ago. I work as Police officer for Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department out of the South Central Area Command which is responsible for the Las Vegas "Strip." I first came across your light at the Shot Show 2005. I had the opportunity to meet Sgt. Rod Schaeffer. Rod was very courteous and very excited about your product. I went to the show multiple days and he continuously took the time to explain the concepts behind the light and its use in police and tactical situations.

I personally feel this is the finest light that has ever been produced. I brought it to work (graveyard) last week and immediately the reception from my coworkers was astounding. I showed them the multiple settings especially the "strobe" feature which is what I use 80% of the time. I could not wait to put the light to work. I used the light all night on multiple car stops and the drivers of the vehicle told me the strobe effect made them completely disoriented and temporarily blinded. After I heard that I knew this was the best and brightest light on the market. During the night I conducted multiple persons stops and immediately deployed the light in the "strobe mode" which gave me the ability to close the gap between me and the suspect almost instantaneously without the suspect knowing what just happened. This is the clearest most visible light that any of my coworkers or I have ever seen.

You know its a great light when you have suspects telling me "wow" I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING!!! This light will definitely save a police officers life one day.

So in closing you have hit the mark with the Gladius it is head and shoulders above any other product and all of my partners want a Gladius....

Thanks again
Police Officer

Read the post on the team that used the Gladius mounted on their MP5's.

As impressive as the Gladius is, $250 is simply out of range for most line cops. If larger agencies purchase them, wonderful, but we all know that the guys that spend money on their own gear are the minority, not the majority. I would say that even for most of the guys that buy their wwn gear, $250 for a light is still out of range. I'll have to stick with my $60 Inova T3 and a fast finger ;)
