I must have gotten one of the rare LCRs with a horrible trigger. Got the 22 mag, and it has the worst trigger of any gun I have ever shot. Otherwise it's a nice little shooter.

For whatever reason, i have always found 22 revolvers to have awful triggers. I sold a 1948 K22 Masterpiece (a thing of beauty) because the double action pull was so bad. I have had the same experience with two different Ruger 22 revolvers. Considering the hammer/striker needs to function differently on a rimfire revolver, maybe the action is different as well.

Your problem in the LCR is caused for the most part by the (.22 WRM) cartridge. The case is formed out of sheet stock, and the material is much thicker/harder than that found in a center-fire primer's cup. It takes much harder blow to ignite the priming compound in the rim reliably. The lockwork must be sized to fit in the small frame so that harder blow in dependent on heavier springs. Regular .22 LR is somewhat better but still can't match a center-fire primer.

The S&W obviously needed some professional attention.

The frame on ALL LCRs is made of polymer. The cylinders are of stainless steel. The barrel is steel.

Weight difference between the .357 and .38 models is only just over 2 1/2 ounces.

The grip frame is polymer, the rest of the frame is either aluminum (.38) or steel (.357). The barrel shroud is integral to the frame, and the barrel is a stainless insert.
