Quality affordable over under, does it exist?

An ad at the local range indicated a Beretta Onyx NIB with the Mobilchoke system and 26" barrels was for sale for $900.

There are some bargains out there, be patient.....

Hey SublimeSilence,
I think we might be missing a point or two here.
First, congratulations on choosing a FANTASTIC sport ! I assume from the content of your thread that you are a younger shooter, and it's great to see younger enthusiasts becoming interested in any of the shooting sports.
Second, you LOVE the sport now, but a year from now Cowboy Action Shooting might be your "flavor of the month", or long-range rifle. My point is, you might not want to invest a wad until you know that you'll continue to be interested. Then, upgrade.
I bought a Remington Spartan (Baikal manufacture) 3 or 4 years ago, in 16-ga simply because I wanted an O/U that wouldn't break the bank and because I have always had a soft spot in my heart (or head !) for the 16. I have used it for quail, dove, sporting clays and 5-stand. I am convinced that the gun is good enough to favorably reflect on 90% of the people who shoot it. (I am also convinced that a $499 deer rifle of good selection will shoot better out of the box than 90% of the people who buy it are capable of shooting!)
The very first time I used the gun was on a quail shoot on a wet and blustery February morning, with wind gusts of 12-16mph. The birds invariably flushed with the wind, so you had to swing a gun like a tennis racket to get a shot. But, I had birds in the roasting dish for supper. Some thin-sliced dried beef, good applewood bacon, cream of mushroom soup and sour cream.... Sorry, I digress...
Bottom line, buy the best you can afford, and certainly consider the gently pre-loved market. But don't be afraid of some of the Chevys or Fords if you can't grab onto a Caddy or Linc.

Haha, well I'm 25 so perhaps not as young as one might think. I live in good old IL and for the most part my family doesn't really care about guns. My sister is the only person that I've thus far convinced that guns can be fun when used responsibly(she has enjoyed shooting the few times she's gone.)

So essentially I got into shooting "later" in my life than most(who seem to grow up with it) but even though I'm still in school I have a good job doing drafting so I can afford to blow some money here and there on nice things(I'm not married yet like many of my friends so I still have a "disposable" income.)

I started shooting when I was 30, so I was even older than you. I still have to buy my first shotgun (have my sights set on a 12 ga. Beretta White Onyx). My experience with 1911s has taught me to buy the best you can afford (even if you have to wait a little longer) since the gun is the cheapest part of gun ownership. That is if you believe in Dave's mantra of "Buy up, Use, Repeat."

I made the mistake of using a cheap Stoeger o/u on a hunt in place of my Beretta 686 recently. Today I shot a pheasant with my Beretta. Since game is so scarce this year I regret carring a cheapy just to save scratches on my good gun. For some guys this is not an issue but for me the gun has to fit, point and be well balanced to hit well.

I am selling a lanber O/U not used. I got 3 of them one of trap, one for skeet and another for hunting and never got to use the 3rd one.
That is probably the best value for the money out there.

I have a Baikal MP310, which can be found as an EAA, USSG, or Remington Spartan. I have almost 1000 rounds through it since buying it in August. No issues what so ever

Remington Baikal is a very rugged and nice entry gun but eventually will start to brake. At least doesn't break right away like Dicks stoeger (hammer, sear and pins go fast, barrels and trunions are not the issue). We are seeing them go with the beginners in the leagues. Now, keep in mind some crews in the skeet/trap club here shoot average of 6000 to 9000 shells / year.
LAst Sunday alone I shot 300... 100 at trap and 200 at skeet.

Sporting Clays deluxe - also great for both skeet and trap. keeps the same and better scores that many Brownings, Perazzis, berettas, guerinis or linguinis. lol!
