I recently found an inexpensive source for AR15/M4 mags from a legitimate business. They are marked "Law Enforcement Only" and are 30 round .223 mags for the AR15/M4. They are manufactured by Okay Industries, which I believe is in Conn.

So, two questions:

1) Legality of these mags, with the markings. Or is that a dinosaur from the AWB of yesteryear;

2) Anyone have any experience with these mags and their function?

Thanks

Follow-up:

The last time I bought mags was a year ago. They were about $15-25 each, if I recall correctly. Have they gone down in price or does that sound about right? How much are the Okay 30 round mags worth, in used but good condition?

Brand new Brownell magazines are $17.95
Cheaper if you have a curio and relic license or are a memeber of the NRA or American Gunsmith Association.

If the LEO Okay magazines are used and priced more than $12.00 each they are too high.
If more than $18.00 new they aren't a good deal, the Brownell mags are much better quality.

1) Perfectly leagal. You may get a hard time from a LEO about them though.

2) The ten I own run great.

I got 10 NIB okay mags from Ammoman.com for $149 shipped. Dont know if he still has the same deal going or not.

Unless shipping is $39, the 10 mags from Bravo Company look to be a better deal, and I find myself wishing I had $110 to spare...

Unless you can pick them up for $8-$9 each, I would pass and pick up new ones from AIM or Bravo. Hell, go over to AR15.com and look on the Equipment Exchange. The most I have paid for new OKay mags was $10. Used ones I have paid between $7-$9.

OK's are OK but they probably do not have the anti tilt followers. $10 -$11 w/shipping costs would be as much as you should pay as anti tilt will cost you to upgrade.

We get nothing good in california either. More than 10 rounds! You must be terrorists or gang bangers!!

Yeah $5 is a good price. Buy as many as you can at that price, and then let us know where they are.

I've had an extremely high failure rate with Cproducts. I won't be buying anymore. Ever.

And as far as the Magpuls go: Have you ever had a green USGI follower tilt? I haven't.

Pawn shops near base have them as low ast $5. I don't think that they have internet sites b/c they are such small organizations.

Can't go wrong with Okays. They are the only aluminum mags I have bought that have been consistently good. Currently I will only buy Okays and the new Magpul PMAGs.

Many time the pawn shops near the base bought them in a lot sale from DRMO. This is okay but you realize that some of them will not work, which is why the government sold them to begin with. Anything I bought there I would expect to replace the spring and give it a once over to make sure it was not damaged. Bulges and dents may not be readily apparent so a good idea to bring in a new mag to compare it to.
