I'm looking for grips for a smith j frame and so far I'm not finding anything that seems reputable as a high quality outfit. I see decent mass produced grips, factory repops, and then this huge market of handcrafted grips that might be awesome or horrible, most likely in between. Are there any guys out there accepted as high quality grip creators?

Have bought revolver and pistol grips from Charlie and have sent him lots of biz over the years. Don't judge him by his website...he does first-class work, especially when he uses ivory and mastodon.

Bit of a curmudgeon so be patient if you talk with him. He sells everything on the 'net and we don't see him at local shows anymore, so tell him I said 'hello'.

Confused....

I don't understand the point of the post.
Do you want custom J frame grips? Or factory/mass produced grips of good quality.
Hogue Grips are a US shooting sports industry leader. They offer rubber, wood, alloy, etc. The Hogue Bantam grips are good for J frames. They are light & easy to add.
Eagle Grips & Secret Service Grips are good too.
I've seen polymer & alloy J frame grips in red, blue, green, grey, etc.
OR's www.CraigSpegel.com has great wood "boot grips" but he's not taking any new orders until he clears the customer backlog.
Spegel makes wood grips for S&W revolvers and semi auto pistols.

I have to suggest Ajax Grips ... they make some great J-Frame stuff and currently have Smith and Wesson medallions available.

That being said I am one of the owners of the Company
