I'm looking at getting a higher quality gun, specifically a Turnbull finished 1892, and I'm looking at perhaps getting a rifle case to match the quality of the rifle. I'd like soft sided, but finest quality.
I'm not really familiar with whats available. Anyone have suggestions?

Unless you want to go bespoke, Negrini cases are very common for higher end rifles among my buddies and everybody seems to like them. Delfiero and Macchiavelli seem to be popular too. I'm a bit of an anomality as I travel with a Peli Storm Case, which is every bit as far from "soft" as you can get.

I appreciate the suggestions. Of the ones mentioned the boyt soft case best suits my needs. Is there other similar options out there? The primary purpose is not travel via air, but travel to and from the range or hunting in automobile.

The Murray Cases are.... eh.... man made sheepskin = cheap, regardless of price. The Saddleback has real sheepskin it says. The Murray cases are nice, but, I wasn't impressed.

Then I am sorry to have passed along bad information. I last bought from them 20 years ago, and it is essentially an heirloom.
I didn't mean to be disrespectful or terse, I was more thinking out loud. I appreciate the lead even if it doesn't suit me, because you don't know where the lead is going to take you when you go down a different avenue.

I do like the S-11 model they offer, that's definitely a contender after looking back at it. I can specify gun length, and I like that.

No offense taken at all, and you do a service by letting us know that Murray's quality has diminished.

I assume they used to use real sheepskin? I certainly would think that would be the premium material.

You know, I am going to have to go look. I do not recall any options at the time and had simply assumed.

Which model do you have? How has it held up? Any insight as to what I do or don’t want in a case of this quality level?

I believe it is what they now call the S-4. (At the time they did not have nearly so many models.)

The leather is obviously high quality, thick but still supple (how's that for a cliche?) and it is top quality leather throughout - I have seen many cases where the handles, reinforcements, etc. are of lower quality material. The scratches and dings just add character rather than exposing unfinished leather - is that a function of the leather finishing or quality? I don't know - and all of the fittings are solid brass rather than coated metals. And the stitching is perfectly even, and done with heavy waxed thread.

The short version is that it is one of those things which has always done the job, continues to improve in appearance with age, and will outlast me without question. It was too much money even then - I don't think I would spend it now - but I am glad to have it. (In thinking on it, though, it occurs to me that I haven't seen it or the pre '64 Model 70 contained therein in quite some time. I will have to hunt it up when I get home tonight and see about some pictures for you.)

Thanks for the info. I'd definitely love to see some pictures. Something about fine quality guns and accessories that draws me.

@.38 Special Would you happen to be able to suggest a high quality rifle sling too? It will be for the Turnbull 92 again. I do not want a cobra sling. I want something similar to this style https://www.amazon.com/HERTE-Leather-Vintage-Stitched-Adjustable/dp/B07FVNRT93 But I want a higher quality. I cant find anything suitable and have been looking for 2 weeks. I seen the Murray A-1 sling, but... It really isn't the style I want. Or the color. I want sort of a burgundy or reddish color. Simple strap, and chicago screws, no buckles. Preferably lined.
