Question about buying online and transferring thru FFL

I've heard of FFLs wanting 20% of the gun's value - ie $200-400 on a good 1911 pistol! Insanity!

And yes, FFLs can be emailed now. Individual sellers do NOT have to have an FFL to ship the gun through private couriers (UPS, FedEx), only to use the US Mail do you need an FFL. When I sell guns online, I generally do the shipping myself. The FFL sends me his info directly, I check his address on the ATF's "FFL E-Z-Check" website, and I only ship guns to the registered address.

Only once has a receiving FFL not wanted to send me his info, because he was worried I would use his FFL to try and buy guns. I called him and convinced him and that was the only hitch I've ever had.

In any case, if I were to run a shop and I had, say, an SKS on the rack which I have to pay inventory taxes on, and some guy wanted to save some cash and get the same thing from another supplier, I'd tell him to hit the road.

This is so foolish on so many levels. The one thing you DID do is ensure he NEVER shops in your store for anything he may ever need in the future.

And you made ZERO money off of him that day. If he wanted to transfer a gun, you could have at least made $30 bucks and maybe goodwill of a returning customer for ammo or hunting supplies.. OR another transfer...Bad word of mouth is like a cancer...youll be out of luck in no time.
