Question about commander sized 1911s

Very little difference. EVERY 1911 guy NEEDS a commander length.

I've just recently bought a Ruger stainless commander length gun. It is one of the BEST FOR THE MONEY 1911's going. It is tight, ACCURATE, 100% reliable and has several 'upgrades' over comperable brands.

Give one a close look if you can before you buy.

By the answers you've received, it is obvious that "recoil" is totally subjective.
My 2 cents; recoil with a Commander length (steel frame) gun is about the same as a 5".
Difference being perceived cycle time/slide speed; the Commander length gun is "snappier".

Like the last post said. it is all subjective......except about light weights being easier to hike about with.

One of my worst "got-away" regrets was I helped a friend that needed money sell a brushed nickled Commander that Bob Day had worked over and S&W revolver sights that had the edges rounded off inlet into the slide. I was short funds myself and could not buy it myself. Thing ended up in a M7 shoulder holster on a young 2LT tanker where it became sort of his signature.

The best deal I found on a commander size was the Sig C3. Besides the commander slide, it has the officer frame, which make it easier to conceal.Features compared to others made it a easy choice
