I traded for a Glock 21 SF. I have the gun and it's great, but I don't know for sure that it's a SF model because it doesn't read SF on the slide. It has the accessory rail and the finger grooves.

Can someone tell me if it's possible it's a SF model despite not reading SF on the slide?

Thanks

Does it have an ambidextrous mag release? The gen 3 21 SF has ambidextrous mag release while I believe the regular gen 3 G21 does not.

If you can get you finger tip on the trigger, it most likely is a SF:D
And SF will be on the frame like chris said.

Not all Glock 21 SF's have an ambidextrous magazine release. Only the ambidextrous magazine release models do. ;) Very few made it to market. It was designed for the military's new pistol trials but they decided not to hold them and so Glock sold a few. Most were problematic and could potentially puke their ambi-mag release components out the bottom of the gun along with the full mag which caused them to puke. Glock regularly replaces these frames (or entire gun if you push them) for the standard style mag release frames.

As for telling if you have an SF, if it says "SF" right on the side, then you do. If it doesn't, it isn't. Pretty simple really. There's no difference other than the size of the grip. If you can handle it, don't sweat the small stuff, it makes no difference.

****, I have a G21SF with the ambidextrous mag release. I haven't had any problems with it but then again I have only put a couple hundred rounds through the gun. Now, I kind of don't trust it. I might have to call Glock up and see if they will replace my frame with one that has the normal Gen 3 style mag release.

Thank you for the responses. It is a SF model. SF was printed on the frame like Chris said and I had only looked for it briefly on the slide.

and they can be ambi mag release or just regular sided (as mentioned above) and may have a Picatinny rail or a GLOCK rail...mine was the SF with GLOCK rail and single sided mag release...fine pistol...

O jeez, now you're telling me I gotta worry about different kinds of rails too? Sheesh, maybe I shoulda paid better attention.

There are four variants of the Glock 21SF.
#1. RTF1 + picatinny rail + ambi-mag release (discontinued)
#2. RTF1 + glock rail + ambi-mag release (discontinued)
#3. RTF1 + glock rail + standard mag release (currently available)
#4. RTF2 + glock rail + standard mag release (limited run for LE agencies)
