I have (2) percussion Cimarron Uberti 1858 Remmies (.44) with Howell Conversion Cylinders (45LC). I was recently gifted ~12lbs of cast lead bullets with smokeless lube 255g , .452 dia. cast lead bullets in reviewing the Hodgdon Reloading sight for Trailboss, the closest bullet is 250g and the specs are as follows Starting Load: 4.5g, 606ft/lbs, 8,800 PSI and Max. Load: 5.8g, 727ft/lbs, 12,700 PSI.

Anybody see any issues with me using these bullets with Trailboss or any other issues?

Thanks, Retreever

Nope. Not a bit.

Sounds like it will work great. Besides BP itself, TB is my favorite powder in single action big bore revolvers. 5.8 gr under a commercial cast 250 gr bullet gives 720 fps from my 5.5" Ruger NMV.

I'm lazy, so I just use the same 200 grain coated SWCs I cast for 45 ACP over trail boss. My charges are a little higher because I am using a lighter bullet, but you should do just fine with your planned combination. Just take it easy with your charges. Compressing trail boss is a no-no and these guns aren't robust enough to take more than a light target load.

I think you are confusing ft/lbs with fps. This loads aren't producing 600-700 foot-pounds of energy. Common error.
