I have an XD9 4" with Trijicom sights, I had before another XD9 4" with dovetail sights and I think I shoot more accurate with that one than the one with the Triji sights, is that possible or is just me?

Thanks.

All the various colored sights are more for speed or low light than for accuracy. You do not see much besides square black sights in bullseye competition. (Except for optics.)

One problem with Trijicon and Meprolight sight IMO is they round the corners of the rear notch and the front post, then coat them with a shiny teflon like material.
This gives a less than precise sight picture. Any time I added them to my pistols, my target shooting dropped off noticably.
Then I found Heinie Slantpro tritium sights.

Precise target shooting, tritium for night and smooth enough for carry.

The tritiums are soooo much duller in normal light. I think that's the main problem. The kind of shooting they're designed for, the bullseye's more like 14". I'm thinking of Novaks or Heinies for my 229.

All my Mepro's have nice sharp corners and are not shiny. I dont see any difference in the sight picture between any other quality sight, if anything, the notch is a little larger, which allows for a quicker sight picture. May not be the greatest for bullseye shooting, but then again, they are a combat sight, not a target sight.

Do you mean the dots themselves? The older Trijicons didnt have the nice white ring around the vials making the dots seem small and dull. I believe the new ones do, the Mepro's definitely do. In bright light, the dots stand out well on mine. The big problem with dots and carry guns is, the dots often are not very bright after a short while, due to dirt and other accumulations. They need to constantly cleaned and touched up if you want them bright. Same goes for the night sights, but they dont seem to be as bad for some reason and they still glow in the dark.

Night sights

I personally can't stand the bloody things. They really mess up my shooting. So yes, it is possible that the Trijicons affect your accuracy.
