Question about the CMP

I was wondering, since there aren't any clubs that are affiliated with the CMP around here, how would I go about purchasing a rifle and ammo from them???

This question has been burning me up, since I hear of all kinds buying off of them and no reference to being a member.

Also, is it different if you go to one of the CMP stores???

Join the Garand Collectors Association.

If you go to one of the stores, you still have to meet all the requirements but you get to hand select your gun and you don't hahve to pay shipping.

Garand collectors association would work.

The hardest part for me wasn't finding a club, it was getting that "match or equivalent" requirement done.

Where are you located, maybe there's more than you know about.

So the Garand Collector's Association works, is that all I need? Or is there another requirement?

The live fire requirement can be satisfied by obtaining a type 3 CR FFL also. Or by (of course) attending a CMP shooting clinic, or being ex-military (dd-214). Have a good look at their web site--it's not the best designed one on the planet, but the info is there.

If you are a Veteran of the Armed Forces, I believe membership in one of veteran organizations such as The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV) would fulfill the "affiliated club" requirement.

Being a Veteran would in itself take care of the "live fire requirement".

If you are a Veteran, and not a member of any of the above mentioned organizations, just your DD 214 would do for the "live fire requirement".

Being a CCW permit holder does it too for the "live fire requirement", I believe.

Someone please chime-in and correct me if this is not the case.

Another national affiliate one may join is the Revolutionary War Veterans Association, the folks who put on the Appleseed shoots.

I joined the Texas State Rifle Association for my requirement.
