I read their FAQ and I'm not sure if U can go 2 ur local FFL and order directly from there without even calling or writing Buds, Or if U first must contact Buds, pick the gun U want and then contact ur local FFL?

Make the deal/transaction with buds. Buds will ship to your FFL.

Just make sure your ffl knows what's going on.

Before you decide to order online, make a list of all of your local FFL's then email them to ask them what they charge to do transfers, if there are any other charges, if they charge a flat fee per transfer or if they want to charge you for each gun in a multiple gun transfer. Also ask them what information they would like from you when you do buy something and wish to use them for the transfer. Also ask them if they will receive transfers from non-FFL's...you may order something from gun broker some day and its nice to know. If you email rather than call you have a record of the response, and you have a sense for how quick they are to check/respond to email, many places online can do a phone call/fax, but sometimes it's quicker if it happens via email and some gun stores are behind the times.

Prices between dealers will typically vary from around $20 to $50 per transfer, so make sure you check with a few to get the best price of any that had a reasonable response time.

Bud's has a list of dealers who will accept their firearm transfers. When you checkout there will be a drop down list of dealers in your area to choose from. Their transfer fees are right next to their name.

"Preferred Dealers" are listed at the top and have already agreed to receive a firearm from Bud's without prior notice. But it is always appreciated when the customer contacts me first.

I've ordered several guns directly from Buds, and never had a problem except one used gun which my FFl said was not in good condition. Without my ever seeing the gun, he contacted Buds and arranged for it to be returned, and Bud's gave me full credit immediately. That's good customer service.

A couple of weeks ago, I used Bud's for the first time. There was a list of dealers on the website, one of which was fairly close by, so I took the plunge. All went well. Based on just a single transaction, I would have no fear trying it again.

Thank U boys 4 ur replies. So is basically 3 steps.
1- Talk to my local FFL.
2-order gun from Buds
3-pick up gun @ my local FFL.

You got it right there MagnumJoe, that is exactly the process I followed just 2 weeks ago when I made my first purchase from Buds. I would buy from them again without any hesitation.

I have never bought a gun from Bud's on line as they are local for me. Now with that said I've bought a couple and had them sent to Bud's one private and one through another FFL dealer. Both went well for me. Now I sold a gun to a guy in PA a while back and sent the gun to his FFL which when it arrived didn't want to accept it as I didn't send it from an FFL. I checked with PA law and was correct that I didn't have to have an FFL as long as I sent it too one. After 2 days of him verifying what I told him was correct and sending him proof of my identity it went fine also with the 2 day hold up at the buyers end.

Can you communicate without the LEET, please?

All the "r they" and "can u" stuff is annoying and juvenile.

Yup...Bought several guns that way from Bud's. As a matter of fact, might be time to purchase another.

Buds prices for anything scary looking is through the roof right now so be careful what you order. They have the colt 6920 going for almost $2k which is maybe double what its worth. Also they are a little misleading on their prices. The cash price is posted and anything else you pay with can be up to $100 more. There is also a VIP scam they do where you get price protection, but that ends up just being credit to your next purchase and it disappears in 12 months.

Expect a month delay before the gun shows up. I think they ship it pony express and it can take 10 days for them to get it in the mail.

Hunting rifles and pistols are reasonably priced and their selection is comprehensive.

Despite all my gripes, Buds is still my first stop when gun shopping. My last purchase from them was a colt rail gun and it was about $100 cheaper than anything I could find in town even after the cheesy nickel-and-diming they did.

Need a FFL in north Dallas/Plano/Allen/Frisco/McKinney ? Just EMAIL me!

$20 transfers ($10 for CHL, active military, police, firefighters or schoolteachers)

Boy I wish there was somebody like you Dogtown up here! That is very reasonable charge. Too many charging $50 these days for not doing very much!

The dealer I used charged $30 for the transfer and added $10 for the tax the booger-eating leg-humpers in Denver just tacked on. And I felt lucky at the price and being able to buy a shotgun at all.

$50 for a firearm transfer??

Cabela's in Glendale, AZ does it for $25. The Cabela's in Lacey might charge the same amount. You can also try the one in Marysville. It just opened last year, and its pretty nice. Sure won't cost you $25 to drive to Marysville and back.

A couple of FFL dealers here in town are on Buds "preferred list" (Means they have a copy of the dealers FFL already best I can figure), so when I decided to buy a CZ from Buds I did the order, then called my FFL guy to make him aware of it. Easy peasy. It is the only gun I have bought from Buds, but it went very smoothly.

For anyone in Houston, you can use the Houston Gun Forum gun shop on Steubner-Airline just north of FM 1960 for transfers. If you are a supporter of the forum they handle transfers for $5, otherwise I think it's $10. Very reasonable.

Ordering guns from buds online is easy peasy. No need to call them. Pick an ffl from the drop down menu, these dealers have ffl statements on file with buds already, the menu has the fees the dealers charge and reviews on them also.

Nope, it means the receiving FFL has agreed to do the transfer without a heads-up in advance. As busy as we've been recently that's been kind of nice - I don't need 20+ additional calls a day stating that another gun is coming in. I do transfers for $10, it's a given that FedEx, UPS, and/or USPS is going to drop something off every day.

Bud's is excellent at including the purchaser's name and phone # on the invoice, unlike some other dealers, so there are no issues with getting in touch with the buyer.

If your FFL dealer is on Bud's "green" list of pre-approved FFL's, you don't even have to call your local FFL, you can just buy the gun from Buds, and have them ship it. If you pick an FFL that is not pre-approved, call the FFL first and let them know if your intentions. Prices vary a lot, so call around to get the best deal before making the order with Bud's.

so do ffls like doing this? selling another companies guns for them? seems like they wouldnt want to...do they get a fee and its easy money for them or what? maybe this is explained in earlier posts, guess i should read first!

Yes, they charge a fee on top of whatever state fees may apply, it depends upon where you live. They don't mind for the most part, as some guns they can't get from their own wholesale distributors or the wholesale price is so poor that they can't make any decent margin off of it. The FFL that receives the gun is going to try and up-sell you on other gear while you're there in the store. Also, in the case of some rare guns and collectibles, they just won't be stocked at your local gun store.

I would ALWAYS talk to the FFL to verify their transfer price before they had my gun and somebody else had my money and I was at the mercy of both parties.

I have looked at Buds a couple of times, and I have found so far that they are out of stock on 90% of whatever I look for; and overpriced on what they have. My LGS has more options in stock and I can take it home today. So far, I'm not impressed at all.
