Question for military people

Don't get me wrong, there are several rates in the Navy that involve lots of small arms use/training.Aviation Elctronics Technician just isn' one of them sadly, and I'm smart enough to know that I'm WAY better at fixing electronics than I would be at humping a rifle and 40lbs of gear all over, all day long.I'm 5'5" 150lbs,with 2 bad knees (the reason I had to get out after 5 years ) and alergic to being shot at, so I left that to those who are much braver, stronge and in better condition than I could ever be.:)
God Bless the Marines!:D

in the navy...

When I went through Navy basic training, i only fired a mossberg 500 and a beretta m9 (POS IMO). We got 5 rounds of 12 gauge and 20 rounds of 9mm in four mags.

being a gunner's mate, i thought that was a bunch of bs since most watches don't use a shotgun. mostly m9 and m16 on my ship.

I might have reenlisted if it was just 40 pounds.

Yeah, really! I still remember that day humping a full pack, complete with extra uniform, boots, and sleeping bag (in the desert, no less!), my M60, a PRC 24, and since I still had a hand free, Sarge kindly gave me a can of M60 ammo. Jeez!
