There's a whole bunch of surplus 8mm ammo out there since so many nations utilized the mauser action, and most have different ballistic characteristics.
First off, it isn't advisable to assume any surplus 8mm is non-corrosive, even if it's advertised as such. If you rinse the barrel properly as soon as you're done shooting corrosive, it isn't an issue. I shoot corrosive surplus through 4 different mausers, and have never had a problem but I clean the bores with Windex as soon as I'm done shooting. Immediately, without fail. Water also works.
Sellier & Bellot makes commercial 8mm ammo, and it is non-corrosive. It's also downloaded considerably compared to most surplus, and a lot more expensive. One benefit is it's reloadable.
As far as ballistics, you can find 8mm surplus in weights from the 150's up to the 190's. Velocities can go from 2500-2600 up to over 3000 for the Turk stuff. Right now you can get Turk, Yugo, German, Greek, Ecuadorian, Romanian, and who knows what I'm forgetting. It's pretty cheap right now but won't be around forever.
A lot of people seem to fear the surplus, but in my experience if you swab your bore out with water or Windex when you get home from the range (and wipe off the face of the bolt), you can shoot it without any danger of corrosion.
