My friend bought an 870, I think it is an express model (park finish, synthetic stock). It was a floor model and did not come with a sling attachment thing on the for-end. There is a stud on the stock thankfully. What do I need to buy to attach a QD sling? I'm not very familiar with 870's.

Is this the right thing? Or does it just need a stud to screw into the existing mag tube clamp?

Great... I see Brownells sell just the stud, but how do I know it will be the right thread? What thread is it, 10-32?

Also looking at some 870 pictures it looks like the stud is attached to the tube clamp like here:

Is that standard on the Express line? His gun looks very similar to that picture as far as I can recall (handled it a couple times, shot it once).

You have to drill and tap the cap if its an Uncle Mikes. It looks better to buy the cap with the stud already installed.

It depends on what thickness of cap you have. If it is thin they say to bolt it with a 5/16" hole. Otherwise they recomend tapping a 1/4 hole. It says it in the instuctions for the one I just put on. It looks like the one on a 7400 rifle.
