I bought a Remington 870 Express Synthetic HD model #25077 a few years back, and it didn't come with a sling stud in the stock, nor a swivel stud as part of the barrel/extended mag clamp.

I've noticed some pictures of other's that seem to be the same. Did the HD model not come with them from the factory on purpose (cost saving?) or is mine just missing parts?

If I look at Remington's parts list, it would seem that they want $33 for the extended magazine tube clamp with the swivel stud in it (that's if i'm reading that right, not really sure). Any chance if I call up Remington's parts or customer service line they'd ship the swivel stud out for free?

I've heard of them doing it in the past when asked for the part - it's a toll free call (1-800-243-9700) so it won't cost anything but the time. There was a time when they didn't ship 870HDs with the studs installed for whatever reason, and since then they started doing it as with the Police guns.

Thanks for the replies.

That Magpul bracket is very similar to the style that is already on the gun from the factory, except mine just doesn't have anywhere to attach the sling - just a big open hole where the stud should be. Here's the model I'm talking about:

Thanks for that number. When I get some free time I'll give them a ring and see what they say.

Thanks for the link. I've seen these, but don't think a 1-point sling is what I'm after. I'm planning on replacing the furniture on it anyway, probably to some nice Hogue overmolds which do come with a sling stud in the stock - that just leaves me with some way to attach the other end to the barrel somehow.

That model has always come with a QD stud on the barrel bracket and either a QD on the old style stock or the loop on the new style. However, large box stores order theirs differently to lower the price. For example: Many of what the Big 5"s out in CA called the Remington Security were simply the 25077 but the bracket had no QD nor did the stock.

The Bracket with QD stud is $33. The Bracket without QD stud is $21. So, you see how they lower the price, well that and their volume buying.

So, I am guessing you got a Big Box Store Model. So Remington is not going to send you a new bracket if that is the case. The other is that you bought the gun used and someone swapped brackets on you. Very common practice when someone is trading something in.

$33 for the part, so I was reading their price list right. Jeez... that's more expensive than the beefier MagPul part.

Strange though. I bought the gun new from a friend's dad, who has their FFL and ordered it for me directly from Remington (I assume). This was several years ago, so perhaps Remington was just going through a 'cheap' phase at the time.

Can a sling stud just be purchased to fit in the existing bracket? I see Uncle Mikes makes some, but there's quite a few varieties - not sure which (if any) would fit.

Call Big Green first (during business hours in NC) and see if they will send you the stud...

good news is that both are easy to install once you get your hands on them!

Also try your LGS, they often have spares just lying around. I got a stud for mine for $5 that way.

Welp, a call to Remington parts dept was met with good results. Told the support rep what I had and asked whether or not that's the way it was supposed to be, or if i was missing parts and it initially sounded as if he suggested that's how they're supposed to be while he looked up the parts in question:
swivel eye, $7
retainer, $4
So that explains the difference between the part numbers for just the bracket $21, and one with the swivel stud in it $33 (+1$ for assembly?).
Then he asked for my shipping info and said the parts were on their way. Of course, I may have given the impression that it was missing parts when he asked if my stock had a stud in it and I said yes - :scrutiny: :uhoh:
