I know the 5.56 NATO round has higher pressure than a .223, but is one louder than the other?

Can the 5.56 military round be louder than a .223 or is the .223 louder?

What are the standard powder loadings for the military 5.56 NATO and the civilian .223?

Has anyone here in fired both types of rounds?

And what about the noise of the 7.62X39 and the standard powder loading for that round?

5.56/.223/7.62

I own several .223's I am un-aware of any diference in noise. Barrel leingth may cause a difference though. The cartridge started out in in 1964 as the .223 by Remington and then went into military service as the 5.56. The only dif is the 5.56 has a crimp and I think the 5.56 case is a little thicker.
If anyone knows of any other diffs I too would like to know of them.

My colt lower is stamped .223 and the barrel stamped 5.56. I read so much and asked so many questions before I bought it, that I was more confused than when I started. I think the right answer was, the barrel was the stamp that I needed to pay attention to. I know, what the hell does this have to do with the question....uh nothing. :) Just to say that I've shot equal amounts of both, and haven't noticed anything different at all. For such a big deal they made out of it, I haven't noticed anything.

There's definitely more muzzle blast/concussion with 5.56 than .223 in my ranch rifle. I'd bet money the 5.56 is effectively louder also.
