Two questions actually.

1. Has anyone ordered a 18.5" 20 Ga. barrel directly from Mossberg? They are not listed on the barrel page but they obviously make them as they sell them on a number of guns.

2. I currently have a Maverick 88 20 Ga. w/ the 22" vent rib barrel, would I need to change mag tubes if I put on the 18.5" barrel?

I'm going to. Tried today actually but the parts department was closed. I posted here because I thought somebody on this forum might have a similar setup.

You can always have a barrel cut down and crowned if buying one directly from Mossberg isn't an option.

For those curious, they do sell a 20 Gauge barrel in the 18.5" configuration, but for some reason it is not listed on the website. The service rep was surprised by this.

Do they have a 18.5" 20ga with removable chokes?

What did you buy?

You probably know by now but in reference the question #2, it's all dependant on the mag tube.

Regardless of barrel length, the barrel must match the mag tube you have since that's how the barrel attaches to the gun.

Mossberg standard mag tube length will work for an 18.5" barrel, if you can find one for sale. Much scarcer than 12 ga bbls. I am sending you a PM on the subject.

Thanks KP, Mossberg DOES sell an 18.5" 20 Ga. barrel that will work with my Maverick 88, so I won't need your services. However, I'm sending you a PM about another possible project.

I don't know why the barrel isn't listed on their site and the service rep agreed it should be.

I looked into it a couple years ago and ended up buying a pardner pump youth as a bedside boomer. It is now so much preferred over the other shotguns I am considering selling off my last 12ga.
