I posted this over on Packing.orgn and was wondering what some of you guys thought? I was just wondering about obtaining a Florida non-resident ccw. My resoning is that its seems Texas is taking a very long time on apps. and renewals. Seems like Florida permit would allow me to carry in Texas(recip.) while my renewal is out to the state of Texas. Just in case Texas DPS takes a liitle longer I would not want to go around unarmed while I was waitimg. Florida non-res. license is only $75.00 for five years and would be valid in the event my Texas was not for a short period of time???? What do you guys think??? Thanks for any input

I don't know TX law, but some states don't grant carry permission to you if you are a resident of that state even if you have a non-resident permit from a state that is recognized by your state of residency. So check that out first.

Also the FL non-res app I received totals almost $300 in fees to get your permit. I want to know where to get the app that allows me to only pay $75. I think that's the renewal fee IIRC. Anyway, the FL permit will allow you to carry in more states than a TX or in my case VA permit.

A Florida CCW costs $117 ($75 License Fee and $42 for processing fingerprints). Same for everyone. Renewal is $65.

The application can be requested here.

Michigan and New Hamshire will accept a Florida CCW only if the license holder is a legal resident of the state of Florida.
