Texas CHL Renewal Questions

I understand the law was changed regarding how long a Concealed License is good for here in Texas. It was extended.

I went on line and found, after answering several regulation questions, I need a PIN# to sign in...something I don't have. If anyone here is a Texas resident and has renewed their license over the net, would you please (1) let me know the general format of getting my license renewed via this new option, and (2) Is the PIN# something one would have only if you've had previous internet correspondence with the DPS, or is it somewhere on the license or graduation certificate?

I think the pin number is the number on your application. Each app. has a number. I didn't do mine on line but I remember checking the status with the pin#. Call them and ask. Someone usually answers the phone.

They send the PIN through regular mail after you request it.

Call them and they will send you another. When I did my last renewal I couldn't remember it and they told me there was no way to reset it, they just send you a new one.

And all the online renewal does is speed the process by a few days, you fill out the form and pay online. You still have to send in the renewal package with the certifications etc.

Fill out the online application, pay the fee and witht he receipt you will get a pin number. They will mail you a packet with the information filled out that you entered. After you get your certificate from your class just stick it in the envelope with your photos and fingerprint cards and mail it in.

The time has been extended for renewal, it is now 5 years.

Does that mean that the date on my license can be extended a year or is it going to be good for five years after I renew?

The renewal is good for five more years from the date that the last one would have expired.
