Folks: I just bought a Beretta 70s in .22lr. From what I can find on the internet, I think I made a good choice. I was looking for a compact .22 that was reliable, lightweight, and fairly accurate. If anybody has any information about this gun they would like to share, please do. Thanks.

Fantastic little kit gun; I bought one back in 1979 and have found it to be absolutely reliable with any type of .22 ammunition. Only drawbacks were the factory thumbrest grips (replaced with original Beretta flat panel grips), and a tendency for the blued finish to develop surface rust (fixed this by sending it off to Metalife for hard chrome plating). Only problem nowadays is trying to find original Beretta magazines. Other than that, a great gun that you're going to enjoy shooting.

I have a 70S, 71 and 75. They are some of the best plinkers ever made and among the last guns I would ever sell.

Ditto. My Beretta 71 is very reliable with all types of .22LR ammo, even the cheap bulk packs. it is accurate and has a good trigger. Great little pistol.

Taking my 70S (22LR) to the range tomorrow morning.

Where can I get 2 grip screws for it. I want to replace them.

Make sure the grip screws are tight. Mine were loose. Every time I fired a round the left grip would shift upward and push the slide release into position locking the slide back. I thought the pistol was broken. Was simply a loose grip screw.

I had a Beretta .22 years ago. It wasn't the plinker model, but had a 6" barrel and not very fancy adjustable sights atop the barrel breach. A 101? That sounds right. It was a great shooter. This was so long ago, I had found it in a downtown Houston pawn shop (don't know if there have been any of those since forever) and after owning the gun for about a year, I sold it to my boss who wanted a snake gun for around her ranch. I got $60 fo the pitol and still made money on the deal!

If yours has an adjustable rear sight....be sure to check the small screws on each end of the blade. My blade separated from the sight. One of the screws loosened and the blade fell off. Fortunately I found it and re-attached it.

Thanks for the information!

I replaced the thumbrest grips with a flat side pair and it made a huge difference. I'm really looking forward to taking this little gun for a spin. It points better for me than any gun I've owned. I like it so much I'm considering picking up a .380 version.:) Thanks again for the comments.

They have great potential!

Very Nice!

Where did you have it threaded? I've been thinking about threading mine.

Fella by the name of Barthel in the Canton area. I can get his number if you can use him. It was a 6" barrel that I used, shortened to be just right with the threading (my gun has both long and short barrels). I have seen some that have had the short barrel threaded.
