Questions about my first build...

Hello,

I'm about to turn my 10/22 into something a little nicer. But, is there anything I should know before I start hacking away? I was thinking about picking up a book on the subject from Barnes and Noble, titled "Customize the Ruger 10/22".
But before I do that, I figured I'd ask here. I've been searching for a build guide online, but can't seem to find any. For example, like the one AR15.com has for building an AR of your own.

As I type this, I have the following coming in the mail:

Fajen Legacy series adjustable stock

Green Mountain S.S. bull barrel (20 inch)

Volquartsen hammer & bolt release

Power Custom one piece weaver style scope base

Buffer Tech. recoil buffer

Burris 1" signature zee rings

I'm going to pick up a Mueller APV once the new year has passed. I'm starting out with these mods, and I'll be picking up more down the road. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I want that stock too. But I don't want to buy one without feeling / seeing irl.

I would also suggest a Volquartsen Target or other after market trigger to adjust out the over travel after that Volquartsen hammer improves the pull. It will also make a surprising sufferances if debur everything and can polish the pins that they rides on. ( if you have never done trigger work before.. always test and retest before loading)

Here's what you need for a "custom" action. Don't skimp and just get a bolt buffer. You can do it all for $50.00. Here is a complete kit, but you can buy it seperate for less.

I've installed all of this hardware on my 10/22. Lightened the pull to 2 lbs. Everything is smooth as silk. You can save yourself $20-30 by buying the below kit, and then the bolt buffer and extended release seperately.

hey jim,

it's actually quite simple! just have the 10/22 schematics handy and you'll be fine! i just finished my 10/22 build and it was easier than building an AR! Check it out:
