Ok. Long story short. For no good reason I allowed my cpl license to expire in december. So I have just paid and delivered application at county building. According to the michigan state police faq"s Michigan law says a renewal is always a renewal even if you let your license expire. According to them A) I dont have to have fingerprints taken if they were taken after July 1 2006. This is true in my case. B) one does NOT have to reappear to the gun board if they re applying within 2 years of the expiration date of the last llicense. Mine expired this december. So why does macomb county not understand this? The lady at the county building said I needed the prints done again because my license expired, she is wrong according to michigan police faqs. which quotes state law. The state police should still have them. I go to police station to get finger prints. lady takes them, then says ok gun board will contact you for the interview! I hope she is wrong.I should not need to go in front of the gun board on a renewal. She also said in regards to the finger printing issue, I quote "somtimes the county does a lottery for handing out finger print request" What? Thats not state law. I knew I was in for it when I first walked up to the county building cpl counter and the lady asked for my training certification! After I filled out a RENEWAL. I had to inform her that I dont need the certification on a renewal, I just need to sign a section in regard to "reviewing it, she says ok. Am I just dealing with some bafooons or is macomb county unecessicarily being difficult? Any one else have the county just disregard state law. I hope the gun board follows the right procedure at least and issues my "RENEWAL" in the timely fashion they are supposed to.
