You may observe that crimp sets the final oal depending how aggressive your roll crimp is. I was surprised the first time it happened but you lever the bullet lower in the case with the tampered crimp grove.probably about 1.40” OAL, am I properly on the groove?

I just relate that experence because I was confused for a few minutes what was happening and why. That can happen, the case will follow the crimp groove, unless the crimp is too heavy.
Yes was thinking same. ThanksLooks like you need to go a hair deeper, would be able to tell after it's crimped.
That is a nice looking round, well done! Like the others stated just a little more depth and a slight more crimp!probably about 1.40” OAL, am I properly on the groove?

Smidgen more crimp pleaseView attachment 1145330 Figured I owed you guys the final product. Here it is post crimping.
OAL about 1.426”.
Thanks to all for your help.
Smidgen more crimp please
There is a very noticeable change in feel in a very short distance. It easy, little more, it's easy, little more it's hard at the bottom of the stroke. Hard is relative as a press has plenty of power to ruin and deform bullets. I think I'm seeing a small gap and all that is required is that you get a measurement equal or less than the lead just above it.Will do especially since I’m shooting from my tube fed Henry!
Thank you.
At +P levels? Yes, probably could use a touch more crimp.Smidgen more crimp please
Another voice added to the slightly more crimp group.Smidgen more crimp please
AgreedYou are doing very well, keep up the good work.
That’s with the 3.6 Grains of W244? You are very much standard pressure at that level. Like others say a touch more crimp then once the dies are set you can bump things up a bit. Top of the standard pressure ladder is 4.0 grains. My testing led me to the 4.0 grains at which the bells went off and the smiles came out. Your mileage may vary of course but there is still some room there. Just wanted to say I am happy to see someone actually listen to the experienced folks here and learn something. You ar well on your way, well done!
The best news is 357 is exactly the same, just a seating and crimping adjustment...Thank you. The patient instructions I received here were tremendous. I read much and watched a ton of vidoes but still felt apprehensive starting to reload this caliber. Being able to ask specific questions and not get looked down upon for not knowing was great. Thanks again to everyone that helped me out!
