Today I saw a used rifle at the gun shop. It is a Marlin 60W. The thing about this gun is that it looks like a regular 60 but it has a nice stock, not walnut, but a nice birch looking stock with a nice stain and clear finish that appears to be from the factory. On the right side of the buttstock is a brass medallion with an image and of an old man and boy and the words "Safety Ethics Sportsmanship". I checked the serial number against a sticky on RFC which dates the gun as being made in 1997. I checked my Gun Digests for a few years around that time and find no information beyond the usual for Model 60s. Nothing about a 60W. I will admit I am "double-dipping" here because this same question is on Rimfire Central also. They seem to think it was something made especially for Wal-Mart. What can you shooters tell me about this model?? Thanks in advance for your time.
