Well I just got done ordering my upgrade to version 3.6 of QuickLOAD from neconos.com. It cost $14.95 + $8.25 s&h. The blurb on the website says that Trail Boss is now included in the powder database, along with a few others I don't use.

It'll be interesting to see if any other changes have taken place. Not everybody's cup of tea, I know, but I really use it a lot. My last upgrade was to v3.4 .

Mee too. I want the Trailboss capability as well. Maybe I'll call.

I purchased version 3.6 about a month ago and IMR Trail Boss is NOT included in the v3.6 powder file. Is there another Trail Boss?

Just to update my previous post, the blurb stating that Trail Boss data is included with v3.6 was in the mass e-mail I received from Ed, not on the website.

I just got off the phone with Ed (a really nice gent), and he assured me that Trail Boss data has been included with the v3.6 update as of the past couple of days. VihtaVuori Tin Star is also included (unfortunately I've never seen it for sale anywhere in the US), as well as IMR 8208 and Reloader 50.

Hope this additional information helps.

Argh..I only upgraded like 6 months ago. I was really looking forward to Trail Boss and was disappointed when it wasn't inlcuded. I guess I'll wait for the next version and upgrade again.

I just checked my v3.6 powder database again. VV Tin Star and Reloader 50 DO appear in my v3.6. IMR Trail Boss and 8208 DO NOT appear in my v3.6. Unbelievable that there would be two different v3.6's floating around.
+1. I've seen both Reloder 50 and Tin Starr in mine, but no Trail Boss / IMR 8208. I purchased a full copy of 3.6 the end of May.

Seems a bit cheap if they DON'T let you get an updated powder file for no cost if they are still calling it v3.6...

According to the email reply I just received from Ed Dillon, the v3.6 upgrade does contain Trailboss.

I doesn't seem right that the older v3.6 doesn't include the same data as the current v3.6. You would think they would upgrade all v3.6 owners to the same data file for free since you already spent the money on v3.6...

For information only.

I called Ed Dillon and asked him about this. It seems that they use different methods and terminology than what I'm used to with software. They call an "upgrade" a version change and an "update" new database data (powders, bullets, etc.), and older copies of the same version may have different data files than newer copies. He did say this updated data is available for older copies at a cost. Not typical IMHO. For instance, when my Quicken program has data updates available I get them for free on the Internet. Not so with Quickload.

Here is a quote from the email I got today.

Just a short note to bring you up to date with the happenings at NECO. More and more hand loaders have discovered the advantages and flexibility of QuickLOAD and QuickTARGET. In these days of costly loading components that are in short supply none of us can afford to buy several different powders to see which one suits our purpose. It is far more economical to use QuickLOAD and analyze the results before you buy bullets or powder. For you "Cowboy Action" shooters, QuickLOAD has data for IMR Trail Boss and Vihtavouri Tin Star powders. IMR 8208 and Reloader 50 data is now included. An update including this data can now be ordered. Many bullets, such as, Berger, Lapua and some Sierra now have Litz G-7 drag function available. Cost of the update is $19.95 including S&H USPS Priority Mail for USA addresses.

I will order mine upgrade tonight.

QuickLOAD has data for IMR Trail Boss and Vihtavouri Tin Star powders.

It does?
My 3.6 Update (only two week old) still doesn't appear to have Trail Boss.
Is something else afoot.?

When I talked to Ed Dillon on Friday he said he just received the update on Trail Boss and 8208 the day before, which means your 2 week old program does not have them. If you call he'll probably offer the update to you for just the postage.

I just ordered the update. Might as well keep it up to date.

I asked if he could add SR 4756 also. That would be fun but I know it has a lot of variations.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. No one else supplies a program that does a tenth of what QuickLOAD can do. You may not like the interface, you may think it's too expensive, you may question the technology, but Ed Dillon is a stand-up guy and all of my transactions with him have been upfront and honest. I wish I could say the same about all of my other internet dealings...

I'll say it again, QuickLOAD isn't perfect, but show me anything in the real world that is. What it does has made my reloading experience safer, more interesting, and more educational. Quite a deal for $150 (plus $20 if/when you think you need to update the database).

Insult and Low Road language removed. Poster could not differentiate between "upgrade" and "update" as explained above in Post #15.
