here is a fun little stowaway knife. 6.5" long cut from a small nicholson file. small, thin and sharp as a razor. a bit of kydex should work nicely for a sheath. i forgot how hard it is to work with such small designs. not much room to hold when grinding.

much appreciated, fellas. i like to make knives that you can stash on your person or gear and just forget about them until needed. i have been making a lot of smaller designs lately. they just seem more useful in day to day life.

thanks for the good words. so, you think these would be worth doing a small batch? i have a metric crap-ton of these small files that my son gave me a while back. they use them at his work and they just toss buckets of them each month after just a bit of use. i might see if i can get a nice run of 5-6 going soon. valkman, i am a big an of your designs as well. very nice work.

If you can sell 'em for a reasonable price, I'm in for one.

I've had several file knives. Keep them oiled, and they work well.

That's just wonderful! What an elegant and useful item!

Yeah, those little skinny guys are tough to grind, aren't they?

i will try and get a pic tomorrow of the thickness and the little kydex sheath. i will just guess off the top of my head and say that it is probably 1/8" thick across the flats. the blade itself is nice and thin, being hollow ground. i took pains to make sure i didn't get it too thin across the span of the blade face. i will figure out how many of these little files i have annealed and i can start planning a small run of these little guys. i would say that they should be around the $75-80 dollar range for the knife with a little kydex sheath. if it will ever stop raining down here, that would help me out. having an open air shop sucks during our AL summers. the fall more than makes up for it though. my favorite time to crank up the big forge.

That looks like a very nice, every day, do anything knife. Peel an apple, cut some cheese, skin a squirrel and /or scrape the you know what from the soles of your shoes. So many think your ever day knife has to be a 12 inch bowie, which is actually pretty useless for 99 percent of every day knife chores. Also looks like a very nice grind. I like it.:)

A nice little blade. I sure wouldn't scrape doo with it though. I have utility blades for chores like that. :)

That is really beautiful. I like the utilization of the file teeth as a nonslip grip. Nice design.

liontribe, I love your work and you have an eye for knife lines that flow together. I am going to make a Quill blade for my daughter. If she cant get to her 357 in time, she will have that deadly sucker in hand.

thanks, my wife is wanting one for purse carry as well. she wants an orange lanyard bead, though. she is a diehard auburn fan.
