WHITE FOLKS UNITE TO ENSURE CONTROL OVER THE COURTS: THE STACY PRATT FACTOR
By: Matthew C. Stelly

November 19, 2003

Four hundred years of enslavement of black people, a plethora of militaristic legal precedents (including Iraq) and tons of information to prove it, and black people are still being opposed in our quest for reparations. And yet a single blonde-haired, blue-eyed white woman can whimper and whine, and the doors of opportunity open wider than Rush Limbaugh’s mouth. I’m talking about Stacy Pratt and her quest to “monitor the judicial system.â€

You saw her on the news: a more convincingly staged performance couldn’t have been put together by Barnam and Bailey. There she was, surrounded by flunkies in law enforcement, announcing that because her husband got killed by a man who they said “slipped through the cracks†of the judicial system, she would assume the task of playing watchdog on that system. She announced the creation of JASON, an acronym that was also Officer Pratt’s first name. In this instance it stands for Judicial Accountability to Save Our Neighborhoods.

I say it should stand for, “Jive ??? Scam to Overcome Negroes.†Because, in the final analysis, that’s what it’s all about. Let’s take a look at the chronology and record which led to the creation of this organization.

Officer Jason Pratt was shot on Friday, September 11 th after making a traffic stop in North Omaha. He was hospitalized and the entire city went nuts. Black officer Tom Warren – whose name is no misnomer – got on TV and said that Pratt was capable, well respected and held in high regard.â€

And yet the first words out of the police chief’s mouth were that Pratt was “aggressive.†This translates to mean that he went after black folks in the ghetto. Just like Jimmy Wilson, Jr.,; when you don’t have anything else to do, harass black kids. And then when those kids come back for payback, blame THEM for responding to police misconduct. That’s the Omaha way.

At any rate, after Pratt died (and another officer, Platt, had capped Albert Rucker who was BELIEVED to have been the one who shot the officer), a fund was set up, events were held and white folks were begging for money all over the place. When Pratt finally died a week later, that is when the media began prepping his wife for the spotlight. According to ???-kissing reporters from Channel 7, “Staff at Creighton and officers on the Omaha police force praised Stacy for her courage and strength through the week her husband fought for his life.â€

So the stage is being set. She’s being played off as having some kind of powers and strength that most women would not have displayed. Wrong. If courage and strength were worth a penny, black women would be millionaires ten times over. But in this case, the media – specifically Channel 7 – is paving the way for a “movement;†a movement that will be led by none other than Stacy Pratt.

While officer Pratt lay in the hospital fighting for his life, several important “actions†are taking place: (1) raise money to pay his bills and “take care†of his wife and kids; (2) stigmatize Rucker, the alleged shooter, as much as possible, and (3) pave the way for an “anti-judicial movement.â€

As it relates to Rucker, always “reliable†Channel 7 interviewed a Douglas County prosecutor and got information that showed that Rucker had “140 contacts with police in his 21 years,†which led to his arrest record. At the same time, “the system†is blamed because the same prosecutor told Channel 7 that the problem with Rucker existed “because of red tape, lack of funding and a lack of witnesses.†A Douglas County attorney, Stu Dornan said, “There’s a limited amount of chances someone should receive.â€

So then when it comes to those who they judge to be “criminals,†there should be a limitation on chances. But when their entire race has benefited from the criminal acts of their ancestors, black folks are supposed to hold hands, sing “Que sera, sera,†and be out of town by sundown. Different strokes for different folks.

The movement has started. There is a need for more money from the government to back this movement, to back JASON. Who better to beg for more money than a blonde woman who’s husband has been shot down by “one of those people They’ve got the money, they’ve got the means, motive and the opportunity. Now the plan has to evolve.

While money is being raised, Governor Mike “The Waffler†Johanns tells Channel 7 that, "Once again, we are faced with the reality that this is an enormously dangerous endeavor that they're engaged in.†If it’s so dangerous, then why doesn’t the governor and his cronies allocate funds to change the conditions where the poorest of the poor reside. If they did that, cops wouldn’t feel they had carte blanche to harass the poor, the poor wouldn’t see the cops as an army of occupation, and improved relations would benefit the city as a hole. Instead, people like Johanns cry boo-hoo and then stagger over to the closest research department to scratch out another grant so that the Feds will give them more money to do an even WORSE job than they’re doing now.

By the time this white man’s funeral came around, it was a “free day†for cops all over the state. Lincoln alone, according to Channel 7, sent 147 officers to attend a funeral that was televised on all the networks. Why? Because like Jimmy Wilson Jr., was this white man worshipped? For the same reason his wife is now being given new-found credibility. Do they have academic credentials? No. Do they have expertise in any area? No. Do they show a commitment to improving human relations outside of their own family? No. It’s simple.

It’s because they’re white. That’s it.

During that funeral KETV interviewed Tom Casaday, the top cop from the Lincoln Police Department. He said, “Every time I look at that picture of Tye and his wife Stacy and their two children, it puts a lump in my throat the size of a grapefruit. It’s a beautiful family. To think of those daughters growing up without their dad is a really difficult thing.â€

Let’s take those comments and go back into time a little bit. At least the father of those two kids was shot down in the line of duty. What about all the black fathers who were shot down, lynched, dragged for miles and castrated just because some white man was in a bad mood or some white woman told a lie? What about THAT? Are we supposed to forget? Or can we take Casady’s lament and multiply it by 400 years and by 50 million black folks killed and then arrive at an UNDERSTANDING as to why there are so many Albert Ruckers running around? Hmmmmm?

Four days after Pratt died, the story hadn’t – not if KETV had anything to say about it.

A September 21 st fundraiser brought out thousands of white folks and their Negro supporters and raised what KETV said was “more than $100,000.†According to the report the money would be used for the education of Pratt’s daughters and “permanent housing for the family.†Pratt’s daughters are not even out of elementary school yet; if there is debt, wouldn’t it be better to spend the money on that? Oh, that’s right: all of their debts were already cleared up, weren’t they?

On Tuesday, September 23 rd , it was mo’ money, mo’ money, mo’ money. A huge memorial was held for Pratt and it was televised, no less. The funeral held up traffic for hours, and again, this was one more example of Omaha’s racism. When a cop is shot by someone black, make a public spectacle out of it. In that way, you can subtly magnify the hatred of North Omaha that already exists and, in doing so, justify any future abuses that might take place against the residents there.

In form reminiscent of the crowds that gathered to keep black kids from getting into Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas, every cracker and his mama was lining the streets in Omaha, Nebraska, as the funeral procession crawled by. This statement of racism was captured on film by TV cameras along Farnam, which were set up hours before the procession even got there.

Following this city-wide memorial that excluded North Omaha, the money was counted and then T-shirts went on sale.

Moving to November, a grand jury unanimously refused to indict Office Platt for shooting Rucker. Platt’s attorney, Mike Fabian said that Platt, “was always comfortable and secure in what he did†and “he (Platt reacted to a friend and officer being shot in the only way he could react.†The ONLY way.

Now in late November, as soon as the grand jury issues its predictable finding, here we find the formation of a movement by Pratt’s widow. The group, JASON is already being referred to as “her†task force. At a press conference from 134 th and Cryer, Pratt’s widow made it clear that they were concerned about what was going on with the courts and she said they were “targeting the judicial system.†Julie Cornell of Channel 7 commented, “She looks like she’s very devoted.â€

The question is, devoted to what? More time for black people? Longer sentences at a time when blacks already serve more time for the same crimes? What about white-collar crimes?

Perhaps a movie will be made about this group and its quest to try to influence judges and their decisions Hey, I have a name for such a flick, but it’s already been used before: JASON goes to hell.â€

I don't even know where to begin. All I can say is if this is representative of black leadership, is there any hope? All this does is fuel the problem, and perpetuate a condition for these "leaders" to exploit. :(

I am not going to touch this one. My opinions might upset some people.

The shocking truth that so many can't comprehend is, that the descendants of slaves can also be bigots and racists.

I live in Philadelphia.

Do I need to say anything more?

"This nation is poised for a battle that will divide us like never before. We have reaped destruction from welfare, affirmative action, Rodney King and the L.A. riots, and O.J. Simpson, but there is one battle I'm afraid we may not recover from as a nation. That battle is for slavery "reparations."

The whole idea of reparations is racist and divisive in and of itself. It is racist in that it unfairly burdens white America with the mistakes of the past - mistakes they had nothing to do with! It is devisive because it forments rage that should have been discarded years ago. In short, the reparations movement is just another misuse of the slavery issue by the civil rights establishment to gain power and wealth.

During the last forty years, black leaders in this country seem to have grown in wealth, power and fame, while the grievances and complaints of the average black Americans have only worsened. What we need to realize is that these leaders are not working for the black community, but against it. By keeping blacks enraged at whites, their status continues to grow. But if blacks were to give up their rage, these "leaders" would no longer be necessary."

"Another consideration: when blacks receive reparations, will they go back to Africa? Certainly shipping blacks to America as slaves was wrong. If we undo one wrong, shouldn't we undo other wrongs as well? I know it sounds crazy, but so does the idea of reparations."

SCAM: How the Black Leadership Exploits Black America by Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson

I'm a firm believer in reparations...

If Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or anyone else can PROVE that they were a slave, they should get exactly what was promised....

40 acres in Arizona & 1 mule...

(Though, if you gave Jackson a mule, you'd have a hard time telling which one was the bigger jacka**... :D )

If reparations are paid, then the wages of slavery have been paid, and slavery becomes simple employment. If we pay them the money will they finally, please, please, please shut up about slavery? That alone would be worth the price.

People like the guy who wrote the above piece are living in the past, b----ing and moaning about what happened 150 years ago while he eschews the fact that his bretheren are currently being enslaved in the Sudan. What is the bet that he has not lifted one finger, mailed one dollar, or written one word on that aspect of slavery? It doesn't fit his agenda which is to get rich quick off of the tribulations of people he never knew.

In the meantime, he ignores the fact that, for all of its evils, slavery blessed him a life here in America where he drives a car, lives in a real house, works at a real job, and reads by electric light. If it weren't for slavery, he would be herding cows in a loincloth on the African Savannah, driving an oxcart, living in a thatched hut, and he wouldn't know how to read or, if he did, he would be reading by firelight of burning cattle dung.

He is an ingrate. He is not only ungrateful for all he has here in America but he is ungrateful to those who came before him that gave him the life he lives -- the slaves from whose labors he seeks to profit.

I'll be damned if I pay 1 cent in reparations. Being of Asian descent I am pretty close to 100% certain that none of my ancestors owned a single African slave. If they want my money to pay for slave reparations they will have to pry it from the cold dead hand that isn't wrapped around a gun. :cuss: :banghead:

Hehe now it's firearms related! :p

Good lord, can you imagine if a white person wrote that kind of stuff about a black officer?

Not PC at all, but TBO is right, racism does run both ways.

Being of Asian descent I am pretty close to 100% certain that none of my ancestors owned a single African slave.

I wouldn't make that bet. The African slave trade began in the ninth century when Moslems began exporting slaves throughout Europe. There were about 25,000,000 slaves traded between the 9th and 15th centuries. So it is completely possible that some asian ancestors owned African slaves.

And depending on how far back you ancestry goes in the US, they may have owned slaves here. What many people don't know is not all slave owners were white. The 1830 census shows 10,000 slaves owned by free-blacks, in both the North and South. Other races of immigrants owned slaves.

Another point that revisionist history fails to teach is that blacks fought for the Confederacy. 3,000 blacks fought for the CSA. Unlike the black soldiers in the North, that were conscripted, segregated and forced to fight for the North (the exact opposite of the view seen in the movie Glory), those fighting for the South fought voluntarily and integrated with white troops. They were buried next to their fellow white soldiers in white cemetaries. There were at least two black Confederate soldiers taken prisoner at the Battle of Gettysburg.

I want reparations also.
40 acres in North Carolina owed to my Cherokee ancestors
40 acres in Ireland owed to my serf class ancestors
40 acres in Scotland owed to my serf class ancestors
40 acres in Germany owed to my serf class ancestors
40 acres in Kentucky owed to my ancestors who were arrested as Southern sympathizers.
40 acres in North Carolina and Virginia, owed to my ancestors who fought againt the union and lost everything.
40 acres in New York owed to my ancestors who fought and died for the Union and lost everything.

One hundred years after the Civil War, most of my ancestors (10 member families) were living in three room houses and eeking out a living as dirt farmers. The wife and I got nothing from our grandparents or parents, and both of us worked our way through school. Yeah, I got your reparations right here... Molon Labe.

those fighting for the South fought voluntarily and integrated with white troops.

Riiiight.

Hint: The revisionist historian is you. And you are just repeating what is largely dishonest history. Actually reading the primary source material would teach you a great deal. ;)

For instance, black troops were not allowed in the Confederate army until General Order #14 went in effect on March 23, 1865. Until that time both the high command and Jefferson Davis vehemently opposed any such thing. As the personal papers, letters, offical statements, et.al. of the Southerners involved quite clearly indicate.

The revisionist historian is you.
Really? You might want to look up these folks:

Thomas Williamson, GA, Light Artillery
Julia Mason, MS, Nurse
Ritchmond Mitchell, GA, Inf.
L.C. Leeper, MS, Cav.
Levi Oxendine, TN, Inf.
Alexander Harris, GA, Inf.

Or maybe you have heard of Representative John F. Harris. He was a black legislator from Mississippi serving in the US. House of Representatives. Guess what, he was also a former slave and a Confederate Soldier and fought 4 years. Following the war, he supported the bill S.B. NO. 25, "An act for the benefit of the Confederate Monument, now in process of erection on the Capital Square, Jackson, Miss.

His speech before the House was reprinted in the Daily Clarion Ledger, Jackson, Misssippi, on February 23, 1890.

You might want to go read that speech and do a little research on the topic before making comments about history of which you may be incorrect about.

Ok...so....just for clarification, a decent summation of this article would be something along the lines of "Because of 400+ years of slavery and oppression, black people have the 'right' to kill cops"? Sounds like what's being said to me...

And I love this one:
In form reminiscent of the crowds that gathered to keep black kids from getting into Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas, every cracker and his mama was lining the streets in Omaha, Nebraska, as the funeral procession crawled by. This statement of racism was captured on film by TV cameras along Farnam, which were set up hours before the procession even got there.

It would have been much better if the writer could have gone at least once sentence between hurling a racial slur and high-horsing about 'statements of racism'....

My opinions not withstanding, the firearms portion of this thread is where exactly??
Its right over there at General Discussion where all topics must be firearms related.

You have erred in thinking that the Legal and Political forum is limited to such as well. L&P is for other subjects besides, and as well as, firearms that affect our civil liberties.

Being forced to pay reparations, likely through a tax imposed by a drunkenly "benevolent" government, affects our civil liberties substantially. I don't need to support another person to alleviate my "guilt" for which I have none. I never owned a slave nor did any of my ancestors. Even if they had, I still would feel no guilt as I know where the past ends and the present begins. I have done nothing wrong.

The people who are going to be the most affected by reparations are those whose families immigrated to America after 1865 as they are not even mildly culpable for slavery. At least those who were here prior to that time may have benefited from slavery in the most ancillary way and thus may have some culpability by proxy.

Would 'reparations' even be constitutional? I'm referring to the part of Art I, Sec 8 that prohibits ex post facto laws (laws making something a crime after it has already occurred.)

It is unconstitutional to punish someone for doing something that was legal at the time they did it, even if that action is now illegal. Slavery was legal, at least in the southern states (including KY and MD) until the 13th Amendment was ratified on 6 Dec 1865. The government paying reparations would be punishing the taxpayers (by taking money from them) for something that was legal (slavery) at the time it happened.

The Lautenberg Act was an ex-post facto law and that didn't even slow them down as the Constitution exists as a minor speed bump for the government.

Many of our current laws violate the prohibition against prior restraint and bills of attainder.

Mighty thin firearms/related civil liberties content in this very inflammatory and divisive topic.
