So, long story short (not going to list all the details, just what I picked up)

Ran across it on Armslist. I traded a guy a completely stock Gen3 Glock 17 (cause it's not like we all don't have 4 or 5 Glock's anyway) with 2 mags, 200 rounds of Federal fmj's and the case for:

1. - A Bersa Thunder 380 Plus, Satin finish, 2 mags, 2 holsters and the case (gently used 90%)

2. - Marlin 336SS, LNIB, look's to never have been fired.

3. - A Vortex Diamondback 3x9-40, NIB.

4. - 20 rnds Rem Core Lokt 30-30, 40 rnds Hornady LEVERevolution, and 100 or so rounds of assorted 380's.

And before it get's brought up, I got a local PD friend to run the SN's and they were all clean.

So, watcha think?? :D

I'd say you came out ahead by a fair amount
And yea, no kidding. I hadn't really added up the price difference till now. Let's just say I had $600 in the Glock + ammo. Combined prices for all his stuff (prices from Buds, ImpactGuns, and MidWay) was $1,252 + tax

I concur, you did well! I agree with another poster... You found someone who wanted a 9mm Glock, and had a couple of guns that he didn't want, didn't shoot, etc. I could see the desire to divest from both the Bersa and the Marlin. There are better carry guns out there than a .380 Bersa, and not everyone would want a lever gun. The scope and ammo were icing on the cake! I wonder what plans he (or someone else) had for the Marlin and the scope?

What plans do you have for the Marlin and the scope? My wife and I are going to buy some property in the country. Its giving me the itch to pick up a carbine lever gun to run as my "camp gun". Basically just an excuse to add another gun to the collection...

You definitely came out ahead on that deal! Congrats on the nice acquisitions.

have you taken your mask off yet? i bought a police trade in glock 22 in .40 that looked like it was never carried or fired in box with two extra mag,s for 375.00 OTD. eastbank.

Not sure yet. Hunting season is almost over down here. But come next year I might be leaving my Win Mod. 70 270 in the safe a little more often. Yes, the 30-30 is (comparatively speaking) a little underpowered, and has the ballistic coefficient of a piano, but there is just something special about the 30-30. Heck, most of the time where I hunt I'd be hard pressed to find a shot over 100 yards anyway.

The only question I have is: was this a face to face transfer? if so, seems VERY fishy. You may have bought stolen guns and the guy did it just to get a "clean" gun.

I think the Diamondback in question is a Vortex 3X9-40 scope (retail price of $199.99), not the small .380 pistol with the same name.

If you want to divest yourself of the Marlin I may help you out.

I am not a Glock fan at all but like the Bersa just fine for general plinking.

It was face to face in my home town. And again, local PD ran the SN's of both guns and the man himself (who lives in town). Both guns were clean and the man had no prior convictions or felonies. I feel perfectly fine about it.

The Glock is a $550 pistol.

The Bersa is a $300 handgun.
The Vortex scope is about $200 new.
The Marlin 336SS is a $600 rifle

I would say the OP made out.
