Things I've meant to mention

I finally shot my AK-47. OK SAR-1.BIG fun. What a nice little rifle. Only in America, buy it, clean it, shoot it; just 'cause you want to. That little puppy sure gets hot! What is that steel bracket on the left side of the reciever? Gotta buy more 7.62 ammo.

Carried a full size .45 in an AKER IWB with a Fobus double mag carrier on the other side. Real comfy. Do most of you hook those on your trousers or on your belt. Had one pull off when I pulled the pistol to put it away. Different pants than I usually wear.

What if the one time in my life that I have to shoot at a person I'm having one of those days when you can't hit the broad side of a barn. ( R.I.P. I guess/hope)

Took the kids 11 and 13 to grandpa's house to shoot today. They were squabbling about who got which 'muffs so I packed 'em up and brought 'em home without firing a shot. Was I too harsh?

I'm happy that I found this site. I really like most of you. It is never boring here. OK I'm going to see what everyone else is writing, 'Bye

Good post.

Nope. You were doing 'em a favor, for which they failed to show proper gratitude by making it pleasant for you. Only proper consequence of that is that the fellow doing the favor decides not to do it after all.

Yeah, my nightmare too. Somewhere around here, someone said that you will, in a defensive fight, always shoot worse than your worst day at the range. :what: Terrible thought.

You got that right.

For a while I've been on a British site. http://forum.tech-pc.co.uk/ When I first started posting there I know many of the Brits and other foreigners didn't believe me when I talked about having six dozen guns and a machine gun. I'de tell them about stepping out back of my house (I've got a range) and shooting hundreds of rounds just for the fun of it.

The guy that owns the site flew RAF jet fighters and can't own a pistol.
Unbelieveable.

About bringing your boys home.
I think you did right.
They need to know that when shooting it is the time for self control and adult behavior.

I don't think you were too hard on the kids. I would've made them wait in the car while I went shooting. I'd want them to understand two things, first that they can't act like two-year-olds and expect to be treated like adults and second that their childish behavior won't keep me from enjoying myself. I'm my children's parent, not their best friend.
