I'm looking for a range bag that will accomodate 5 or 6 pistols, ammo, and associated gear...does anyone have one they could recommend?

Run to the local big box hardware store and look at the large mouth tool bags. They have lots of side pockets and will carry a stack of goodies plus several cased handguns. I'd guess you can get one for less than half of a dedicated "range" bag.

~ Midway ~

...

Last time I chked, they were on sale for 24.99 as opposed to 49.00..

5 to 6 guns, one shy of my small herd but room for generous amounts of ammo, supply's, etc., w/shoulder strap and metal loops, come in 2 colors, black and -

Arrived in 5 days from order online

No complaints,

Excellent post and pictures Lonestar49..How long have you owned it? Has it held up well?

I have the same bag as Lonestar (except in black). Awesome bag best I've owned yet and the price is unbeatable. Think there is also a larger version as well.

Don't go bigger bag.. no no

About 4 months now and a few stitch threads, no problems, needed to be cut when they appeared.

But for 5 or 6 guns, as OP needs, no need to go bigger bag, trust me, you can, or I could, load 8 handguns w/ammo and supply's using shoulder strap/for heavy loads, and the metal loops are KEY.. they're build in strong

Like a good safe, this size bag offers room to grow IF needed or to carry extra goodies..

I give it 4 stars out of 5 (price is key/fair) for what you get and can do with this gun bag..

Midway is top notch IMO, for shipping and timing, very fast

One nice feature I really like, and use, are the generous side pockets

How many rounds are you carrying?

Yes I do!!!!! They have a range bag at Midway that I just bought and am EXTREMELY impressed with it. I can put literally 12-15 guns in the main section. It has two large pockets on one side...a zippered flap on the other to expose an area to put magazines..and two end pockets for your ears or other incidentals. It is only $39 on sale!! Go to Midway and check it out. It's originally $69, but even at $69..it's a bag that you could put $129 on and easily sell it. It has full strap support under the bag and quality zippers. It even comes with a insert used as a a portable tote as well as a brass bag. I bought it in OD green..and so far..I've been blabbing at the club about this bag deal for three weeks and I've already seen several of them show up at the range. They are without a doubt a steal. It's also not one of those too good to be true deals. It is quality at a very budget price!!! They have them in black and OD green.

Here is the link.

There are two sizes that they offer. This is the competition bag that is the largest!! You WILL be happy!! I swear!!

I also have the big bag from Midway, and it's an AWESOME bag and value!!! Excellent quality and a great price. But be warned, you can put so much it in that you can't lift it. That's something to consider IMO. It comes with a smaller bag (good for ammo and magazines, etc.), and two padded pistol pouches, but you can cram all kinds of things in it. Just be ready to hire a porter to carry it for you. Helluva bag for $40 though.

Another +1 for the Midway bags. Great capacity and quality for the price. Mine even carries a PLR-16 nestled in with several handguns.

How many rounds are you carrying?
...

Say, 4 guns, 100 rounds each - room to spare for more guns or more ammo

It would come down to how much you could lift and carry via shoulder strap a/o how many guns, where you put them, leaving room for ammo, as seen in over top/open view - Sig P225 9mm standing straight up in holster w/room to spare from top/closing along with standing 50 rounds box of Winchester/40 next to 100/round box of 45 on bottom next to Winchester ammo, ears, etc.

I think, as mentioned, seriously, more than you would, or could, like to try and carry at any distance.. lol (but then, what are friends for when others have small bags, limited ammo carry.. hehehe) ah, no

Otherwise, way more than that

Ps.. the black ammo bag within my bag is actually an old, very strong, small tool bag (dremol) I've used since day one for ammo carry and to the right of my ears is enough room for another pistol like what you see on the left side, not to mention the outer side/front pocket/s you see my Sig P220/45, standing up, but lays down with room to spare for another gun in that pocket. I could get 3 guns in that side/front pocket, but I like to spread out the wealth, and weight and balance, a bit. lol

Or the other front side w/mag holders and that Px4 40, in holster or in gun carpet/seen, can fit there lying down. Also, one of the inner wide pockets with another gun, in holster/protection, easily, with room to spare, for another gun and other things, t-shirt/s, stick-on targets, etc., just depending on how you want to organize your bag.. How much ammo you want to haul, all of it in the center inside of bag, to the top IF you can carry it all.

Another vote for the Midway bag. Got one earlier this year and have been very happy with it. It replaced a smaller bag that my range-shooting collection outgrew.

I'd go so far as to say that, for the money and the quality, this is the probably the best deal available. It's really well made, with pockets, pouches, places for all your stuff, plus the insert, dump bag, and pistol pouches - it was very well thought out. Somebody who shoots a lot designed this to be exactly what you want.

I've been using the Midway bag for a few months too. Great bag at a great price. There's enough room for everything. The thing is built to last too.

I have had the Midway bag for over 4 years with not a single issue. I have bought them for family members and friends and they report the same results. I carry 4 guns and over 500 rounds in the bag. I have two the I use now. One for ammo and target guns and another for duty guns and range gear. Great bags and highly recommended.

Thanks for all the info guys...i ordeered the big Midway bag...two other guys in my office ordered one too.

The Midway bag is practically identical to that 5.11 bag, which is what I have. I wish I had known about the Midway bag, I would have bought it instead. It is a good deal, but when on sale, it can not be beat. I just bought the Midway compact range bag on sale. Nice little bag.
