Went to the range yesterday and trying to maintain my skills and familiarity with my EDC. Typically I go twice a week and shoot about 200 rds of center fire and 100-200 rds of rimfire. Weekend days also shoot Defense Shotgun and Deer hunting shotguns.
Have to adapt to new ammo shortage.

50 rds of 22.cal Ruger LCP
14 rds Beretta Pico 380
20 rds Snubbie 38
24 rds Kahr CM9 9mm
25 standard buck shot
Also tried out Aguila Mini Slugs- Now this was just pure fun. I have a very large stash of Shotgun ammo with close to 1,000 rds of Buck shot alone, but really did not want to go into that. Went to buy more shotgun ammo but all out but the Mini slugs. So I picked up a few boxes.
I have never shot them before. Recoil was mild. Not wimpy but certainly not harsh. I was kind of surprised they did have the hoomph they did. Shooting soda bottles and milk jugs then set a target out to 25 yds. I plan to buy a case as soon as they are available, also the Birdshot.

The Last two shots were attempt at head shots.

Aguila Mini Slugs 12 ga
Target 25 yds.
Shotgun Stoeger Condor OV 12ga 20" barrel

That's one good thing about reloading. I have considered cutting back on shooting, but I'm still good. The only firearms I have cut back on is my rimfire. I have plenty of rimfire, but since I can't reload that, I'll wait until I find some more before using up my stock.

In good times I was shooting a couple hundred rounds at home on the weekend running drills . Then one IDPA match every Monday that required 50rds and a once a month IDPA match that I always brought 100rds to.

I still do the matches but my practice has been reduced to mainly dry fire drills due to being able to procure ammo.

I'll still shoot a box here and there on the weekends but I'm certainly not shooting like I was during "good times".

I love shooting the Snubbies. When I shot the 25 rounds through the 642, I was enjoying it so much that I had to struggle with the temptation to not shoot the other 25.

I train weekly, doing various realistic drills. Due to supply challenges, I have invested heavily in 22 LR as of late. I have "re-configured" my normal regimen to the following: 60 rounds 223 (AR15) 60 rounds 9mm (Glock) with 100 rounds through my M&P 22 pistol and another 100 through my S&W 22 M&P AR. The 22 pistol works fine with my pro-timer attached to my belt, but the rifle requires the pro-timer to be placed somewhere in front of and below the muzzle. While using a 22 isn't ideal, it is practical. I plan to fill the false buffer tube of the 22 AR with lead or other material as well as a mounted light in order to add weight to make it more similar to a "real" AR15. I also have rationed myself 1 50 round box of 45 ACP monthly (1911). Long range training has essentially stopped in order to maintain existing stocks, at least until I get my 308 reloading "up and running"- I have everything required except the time. Ammo for hunting rifles is still available, and I have plenty of it on hand, but there is no reason to even bother with those until this fall. Based on my current inventory, I should be able to keep this rate of expenditure going well into 2021. Every time I see 22 LR for sale in bricks, I buy a few. No idea how long this will last, though.

In my opinion one needs a balanced stock of commercial ammunition and reloading components. When the stamped starts, replenishment of commercial ammunition and or components becomes problematic at best. If you've lived thru this before and are not stocked up shame on you!

I just focus mainly on shooting 357 , revolver & carbine. I have lots of components , it's cheap & can go mild to somewhat wild. I'll shoot other guns but I get my fix 6 shots at a time.
I've also been loading a lot of trailboss loads in 454 casull cases, they're fun , still pretty powerful without much if any recoil or blast. I did order some 45s from MBC , even if it takes a month it really doesn't matter.
22lr I've been conserving a little but not too worried. Last count was still more than 10k. I like shooting CB shorts from a savage 72 (Stevens favorite) and cci standard vel. From a marlin 39, so I'm not shooting brick per range visit , like I used to (every other weekend before I had kids).
Buy powder when you can, primers when you can, take care of your brass and cast if you have to. Everything is going to be alright , get shootin'.

Bought some more Buckshot last night for $299.00 for 250 rds free shipping. Yes, expensive, but I love shooting Buckshot. These will go into my stash. The good thing is you do not have to shoot a lot to fill that itch that comes with shooting. 25 rds can be a whole lot of fun.

I dry fire 4 rounds and live fire 1. 20 rounds fired will get 100 trigger presses and sight pictures and the one live fire will tell you if the dry fire is good.

As others have mentioned lots of accuracy with 22lr

Never had a black powder, but have been doing a little homework. Is there a good availability of components and powder?

At the moment the bottleneck in black powder shooting is percussion caps (basically a black powder primer). Basically unobtanium, but there are alternatives. There is a kit sold where you can make your own caps (I recently bought one and the reviews say it works), and some black powder guns take 209 primers or can be retrofitted to take primers. The nice thing is that I can take one of my black powder rifles out, shoot for an afternoon with round ball and black powder, and if I have cracked off 40 shots it is a ton. I cast my own balls, so that part is easy. If you buy a flintlock, you do not need primers.

When I ran low on 9mm....I started shooting up my stash of 40S&W. Since 40 is one of the last rounds left on the shelves, I learned during the last ammo shortage to buy up 9mm cheap when available.......then start buying up 40.

I havent changed. 200 rds 9mm through carry, and 500 22lr through training pistols each week. 5.56 when I want to. I saw this coming, so I stocked up. If prices/availability REALLY go south (Biden is president), if you see a momentary dent in availability of reloading supplies, that'll be me, not sure I like this availability game.
