Put 300 rounds through it yesterday. Ran flawlessly and shot more accurately than I ever imagined.

I'll have to wait until I shoot an outdoor, day-time match to make judgments about the Novak sights. The green fiber optic dot seems huge when shooting the indoor range.

I practiced drawing and firing in prep for local IDPA matches.

Sometimes I would choke up when drawing and almost get bit by the hammer. Couple of times I got "pinched", and it became a distraction.

SO...on my way home from the range I dropped it off with the gunsmith and told him to go ahead and fit the Ed Brown stainless beavertail I'd purchased but didn't have him install when he put it together the first time.

This is my grail Colt for shooting matches, and I'm going to keep it and shoot it.

I really like the two-tone effect of your Colt Commander! Looks good. 9mm 1911s are fun pistols. I have a 9mm STI Ranger II that is very smooth and accurate to shoot. Seems like a lot of people don't care for 9mm 1911s, but I think they are great. Though, I do indulge in other 9mm platforms as well.

doc,

With a gun that great looking it would be mighty hard for me to shoot it!

But you see, that's why I shoot Glocks. Who gives a hoot about their finish, right?

Awful good job done there.
