Picked up a new PT111 this weekend to take over CCW duty from my Arcus 98C, which is a little bigger and heavier than I'm comfortable with. Put about 80 FMJ rounds through it. At 15 feet it consistently hit about 2" to the left of center and I had three instances where the slide was about 1/8" short of closing all the way while cycling and would light strike the next round. Another pull of the trigger would fire the round. I traced this to something catching right about the point where the barrel disconnects and tips. I played around with it after getting home and it seems to have cleared up. The sights are adjustable so I think all the issues I had today will be cleared up for the next trip. Funny how my $240 Arcus has been nearly flawless in the three years I've had it and the last couple "name brand" pricier guns I've bought have had issues out of the box. The Arcus groups slightly tighter than the PT111 and my Buckmark is better than both. The PT111 SA trigger isn't bad at all, not very heavy and has a nice crisp break. Recoil is snappier than the aluminum frame Arcus but not bad at all.

Arcus? What the heck is an Arcus? Give us a range report on it and tell us how you got it. I have been around guns a long time and I have never heard of Arcus.

I've had a new PT111 mil pro for a couple of months now. It has functioned perfectly so far with all types of ammo.

I too had an issue with grouping left. In my case I had to get used to that Taurus trigger. I kept pulling slightly to the left.

My buddy just bought a PT-111 and it does the same thing. The slide stops short every once in a while, and he has to manually close it, or else gets a FTF. It seems to be hanging up on the chambered round indicator. I was thinking about buying one, but now I can't help but wonder if this is a flaw with the PT-111's. Anyone else having problems???

After I took it apart a couple times and cycled the slide a bunch I stopped feeling the notch that would hang the slide up. Hopefully it stays that way after I shoot it again.

About the Arcus: http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg110-e.htm It's a Bulgarian made Hi-Power clone that comes in four variants. The model 94 is single action and is either full size (4.6" barrel I think) and compact (4"). The model 98 is visually identical but is DA/SA and also comes in either 4.6" or 4". I have the 4" model 98. I'd guess I have about 3000 rounds through it and the only issue so far is the tooth of the extractor broke off but a Hi Power extractor is a direct replacement so it was an easy fix. It came with two 10rd mags and 13rd Hi Power mags fit flush. It's accurate, feels and points great, and feeds anything I put through it. Paid $240 for it new, best money I've spent on a gun. There are usually a couple listed on gunbroker.

Well I think I'm giving up on Taurus. The 24/7 I got new was junk and so is this PT111. I finally made a second trip with it today and the slide would still not lock into battery and then the recoil spring started popping out of the front of the slide. I also had to move the rear sight waaaay over to get it lined up correctly. Guess I'll be calling Taurus on Monday.

Ukraine, so many people have had good experiences with the 111, myself included, that I wouldn;t give up on the gun. Send the gun back and see what Taurus can do for you. BTW, was your 24/7 an early gun?

Taurus has a new recoil spring design for the Mill pro and maybe the 24/7s. They have added a washer to the front of the assembly. This should fix the problem with the springs pushing out of the front of the slide. Call them and ask them to send you a new recoil assembly. That will save you sending the whole pistol in for them just put in a new spring and send it back.

HOLY COW! That was a brand new gun? Mine has over 1000 rounds thru it and doesn't look anywhere near as beat up as that picture. Even the area of the barrel where the takedown pin goes thru is beat up. I'm familiar with the spring problem, but I thought they had that handled a while ago. Definately send it back to taurus for replacement, and question if it was mis-represented to your dealer as new by his distributor.

The gun was definitely new when I got it, there weren't any wear marks on it. If I have to send the gun to Taurus, who pays shipping? I'll see if they'll just send me a new recoil assembly. I'm still going to have that problem where the slide doesn't lock all the way forward, though. I should have just ponied up the extra $80 for a Kahr CW9 lol

PT111 Pro recoil spring

Any body recieve and try the new style recoil spring?
Bought my PT111 pro at beginning of the year. I put about 300 rds through before the spring protruded. Sent it in. Got a new spring (36100633) four months later. That held for about 50 rds. Taurus sent me about 3 of those and they all did the same.
I got the new style spring a few weeks ago. Put it in. Now I cannot pull back slide far enough to reinstall take down pin.

If you can pull the slide back far enough to hold it open with the slide lock then you should be able to put the pin back in, do you have a picture of the new spring?

Just this week I received a new spring, took about a month. They actually sent me two springs in two packages for some reason. Both invoices said "enlarged diameter spring" or something to that effect. Part numbers were the same. One spring had a washer on top and the other just looked like the end of the spring wasn't wrapped as tight on the last coil so it's bigger. I put the one with the washer in. Haven't shot it yet but it came together fine.

Here are the two springs they sent me. I installed the one on the right. Its larger diameter spring is about .100" longer than the one on the left but overall length is the same. The one on the left uses smaller diameter wire and more coils than the one on the right, which looks just like the original spring that was in the gun.

Let me know if these are too dark, I can retake it.

Anyone else having problems???

Yes, I have a problem with the slide not going into battery and have had 2 kabooms with some lovely backspray, but no damage. The 111 shoots tight groups, has a great trigger and I love it, but rapid fire is out of the question, as is CCW. It is essential with my gun to make sure it goes into battery before pulling the trigger. Hey, I expect all the explosive stuff to be sent the BG's way. I will play with it, but so far have not solved the problem. Cleaning is not a cure, so far. I think something is hanging up.

I know that some of you have had flawless MilPro guns, but the percentage of problems seems way too high. Even if Taurus had great customer service, and they obviously don't, is this worth it? What kind of gun manufacturer designs a piece whose recoil spring pops out and they send you a washer to hold it in? The frustrating thing is that it is such a little beauty - if only it worked. It is a great gun, and my intent to get it working is a testament to how much I like it.

I don't understand how they can sell these things when they do that. It's like they do absolutely no testing and as long as they can put it together it gets shipped.
