Range Session, last saturday.
I had some new ammo & a G2 Contender
to break-in. I took my rifle case
44" x 14" x 4" Cabelas "Bulletproof" and
took the normal occupant, the Marlin
1894 out and filled it up with
TC G2 Contender 14" Bbl. in 7-30 Waters
S&W 625 5" Bbl. .45 AUto Rim & ACP
S&W 617 6" Bbl. 10 shooter
S&W Model 60-15 3" Bbl.

The rifle case is the only thing I have
that will contain the G2. It barely fit
across the back seat of the HOnda SUV
my shooti0ng partner drives.

At the range I selected a couple of targets
with 5 4"+ x 6"+ ovals in an X pattern.

I started with the Model 60 firing some SPeer
Gold Dot 135 gr. JHP .38 Spcl. +P NIce
predictable hits center of mass at 7 yards.
I tried some new stuff, .38 SPcl Hornady XTP
@ 1,000 fps. Some Muzzle flash and definitely
hotter than the Speer +P I tabled the notion
of going to some .357 Mag.

Next up was the 625 - I had four speedloaders
with 200 gr. SWC @ 1,025 FPS
I quickly went to DA mode after a couple of
slow SA shots. I was pulling em DA to the
Right side of the center of the X.
& 185 gr. SPeer GD JHP @ 1,050 FPS
We have a problem Houston, THey shot
ok, less recoil, but sticky wicket extraction
the jury is out, but I suspect the ammo,
I'll check the headstamp and see what kinda
brass it is using. I switched back to the
200 gr. as well as a cylinder of Win. 230 gr.
JHP SXT three of which went X ring.

Next I set up a sandbag and got out the TC G2
with the Federal 120 gr. FP-BT 7-30 Waters
a necked down .30-30 Winchester parent.

I fired it, and realized it was WARP recoil...
I now know why it's a 150+ Deer hand cannon.
My shooting partner Ralph fired it twice. He
used to compete with 7mm TC ? in silouette
competition. Two was enough for him. The
new improved angle of the G2 grip was very
comfortable for each blast off.

The 617 is lots of fun BANGBANGBANG as fast as
you want, I went through a box of 32 gr.
Stingers that I had found - must be early
1980s. As well as most of a box of blazer
LR 40 gr. Great gun to practice DA and I
filled in the UPeer LH and Lower LH of the X
target

Ralph let me use hi Ruger GP100 6" Bbl. with
.357 Mag
140 gr. Hornady XTP JHP
& 158 gr. PMC JSP

Although I'm a Smith man, the GP100 is
a nice wheelgun and impresses every time
I handle and shoot it.

I saved a full moon clip of 6 Corbon
.45 ACP +P @ 1,250 FPS to break the
sound barrier with the 625. It Barks.

Cooking xmas eve dinner with scaloped
potatoes and ham whilst cleaning weapons.

Merry Christmas All
