I had the opportunity to spend some time with the P-46 this morning. I must say all I can do is echo what others are saying: The (stock) P-64 is reliable, accurate and is somewhat painful to shoot beyond 50 rounds.

So far, I've only used Silver Bear (LVE?) 94gr FMJ and JHP (50 of each). I didn't bother with the double action as I find "finger fatigue" prevents me from being able to pull the trigger double action more than 3 consecutive times. However, single action is surprisingly light. Seriously, the pistol caught me off guard a couple times by firing after what feels like a 2-pound trigger.

The pistol began to raise and subsequently break a blister on my thumb knuckle/web of my hand halfway through the second box (75-ish rounds).

I was impressed by both the accuracy of this pistol and the reliability (again, only 100 rounds were put through the pistol, half being JHP). The sights are conducive towards target work, but are so small and aren't the best for "combat". This pistol appears well made and is quite thin, so I can see why some people like it.

Here's a typical 15 yard group using Silver Bear 94gr JHPs

Once you respring it with Wolff springs, it becomes very pleasant to shoot. Install a 22-pound recoil spring and an 18-pound hammer spring. You won't be sorry.

Thanks WardenWolf. Though I would really like to keep this pistol stock as I really don't intend to carry it, I must say that I am tempted to monkey with the sights a little (I would like to be able to pick up the front sight a bit faster) and if I did, I would probably replace the recoil spring as well. I'm going to presume this pistol to be a SAO, so I don't plan on using the double action ever.

This is a deceivingly well-made pistol however. Even the bluing is better than some of my commercial handguns.

As inexpensive as they are, get a second one to mod and play with. You're right, they are amazingly well-made for the price and they're a perfect size to carry. Mine compares favorably to a J-frame as a BUG or for pocket carry.

They are very well made and can't be beat for the price. Regarding the sights - I widened the notch in my rear sight use a Dremel (very carefully...). I also painted the rear face of the front sight blade white with Testor's model paint. It has held up well to near-daily carry. These sight mod's aren't ideal, but until someone makes combat sights (never) for these little pistols, its better than the baseline sights.
