ranges in baltimore?

i'm introducing a new shooter to the wonderful world of shooting. but he live far from my usual shooting ranges. anyone know of any good ranges in the baltimore area?

all i need is a short pistol range, but would rather not go to one that is too sketchy/suspect. clean and safe would be nice. also, not too expensive or exclusive.

don't you need to be a member to shoot at AGC? how difficult is it to become a member?

are targets at the pistol range adjustable for short distances like 3-5 yards?

On Target has an indoor range near Ft. Meade (south of B'More).

I don't like the place much. Expensive and the folks in there don't seem to know much. However, it is an option.

All of the above are good choices....only one I'd recommend avoiding for a first time shooter is Select Fire in Glen Burnie.

You have to be a member of AGC to use the Marriotsville range or be a guest of a member. The pistol range is set for 25 and 50 yard targets and you can not use multiple targets like you can on the 100 yard range. To beome a member of AGC you have to join one of it's associated clubs. Club fees vary (normally around $25 per year and two years ago when I stopped being a member the range fees were $150 per year).

Hap Baker on 140 (in back of the Carroll County landfill) is set up for bench shooting but there a number of handgun shooters that go there. They are building a 8 lane pistol only 25 foot range that should be completed this spring. Out of county residents pay $10 for as long as you want to shoot (except hunting season). They supply the sandbags and scopes as well as selling targets.

I have yearly memberships at On Target (for handgun shooting) on Rte 175 in Odenton on at Hap Baker (for rifle and big bore handguns).
