Just wanted to ask before I take the plunge..

Most important: pulls firearm close and conceals well
second: Allows adjustment of angle and how deep in my pants it goes

Is raven concealment still the best regarding these items for OWB? I currently use the comp-tac mtac for IWB... and it seems to have similar designs like the supertuck etc... is there anything that can compare to the raven concealment's concealability and adjustablility for owb?

btw, if someone has one of these for a firearm w/ a safety... do you guys deactivate the safety as you're drawing? I always thought your thumb was supposed to deactivate the safety as it was swiping say.. a button strap or something (basically deactivating safety before removing firearm from holster); however, if the raven pulls the firearm so close and has the safety cupped by the holster.. how are u guys drawing your firearms?

I have a Raven Phantom for my 1911. The biggest advantage to the Raven Phantom is the flexibility of the design. You can use it IWB or OWB with just a change in attachment hardware. You can even use a variety of different attachment hardware for both IWB and OWB to change the way the pistol is carried.

The Raven Phantom is basically a kydex pancake holster and does hold the pistol very close to the body OWB and it is very thin for IWB use. I have the standard OWB attachment and have found I like to wear it as high as possible. It is very secure even at the highest setting. You can even get the optional pancake attachments for an even tighter profile.

I have the "tuckable" IWB over hooks for IWB use. With these hooks the holster is held relatively low IWB even when set as high as you can go.

I do deactivate the safety on the draw. As I draw (it does require a quick snap pull to get it out since the pistol is held very securely), my thumb falls right on the thumb safety just like any other holster.

Is it the best? I'm pretty early in my "box of holsters" collection for me to be able to make that assessment. It does carry high and tight, but it probably takes up more space on the belt than other designs since it is a pancake style. I basically bought it so I could experiment with IWB and OWB with one holster to find a preference. I prefer it OWB, but it does work well as an IWB.

oh another question actually.. does anybody have a raven owb + something iwb.. say a supertuck or mtac for the same firearm? If so, does the raven (owb mode) conceal just as well? or IWB still beats OWB... even in the case of the raven phantom
