Was wondering if anyone has ordered one recently. If ya did how long did it take? I sent the the bullets in to get one and they said 2-6 weeks. Thanks.

Last batch I ordered it took the full 6 weeks, but that was last year. They'll call you when they are done to get your CC info for payment.

Why not just a vanilla replacement plug (Amazon/Midway, etc) for $10, and some
quick-set epoxy ribbon molded in the cavity/onto the actual bullet nose ?

MatchMaster plugs are more than that and I made the decision I didn't want epoxy or JB weld. Hopefully this thread doesn't become a debate on DIY or RCBS custom plug. I only asked about how long it takes RCBS to do it for those who had had it done recently. Thanks

Yeah.........................................but you get all sorts of FREE advice around here..........................!!!!..................... :neener:

Get a custom fit in any seating plug with The Bullet and J-B Weld Epoxy Putty .
Clean and degrease inside of the plug ... wax or grease the bullet - so it doesn't get stuck in the fitted seating plug . You can use J-B Weld epoxy Glue but it might run ... the epoxy Putty stays put ...
Get a small ball in the seating cavity and proceed to seat the bullet ... make sure all is in line and straight ...seat about 1/2 way into the case ... and leave it in the press with a little pressure on the handle untill the epoxy sets up and hardens ... You done !... Perfect Fit for that bullet ...every Time !!!

You can fix any seating plug with a lathe and some brainpower

Guess you didn’t read post #5. I’m gonna unwatch my thread as I already got my plug back.

You contacted the public and you get public reaction. Post 2 was good info. Many people here detest buying what you can make. So I also enjoy reading those so thanks for providing immeasurable entertainment.

As above... For those who provide experience-based solutions
and alternative approaches for remedies -- our thanks

You're both right. Post 2 was good, that's why I thanked him in post 3. No doubt I've posted on threads what the OP thought wasn't relevant to what they were asking about, but others reading the thread did. Most likely will do it again :D. Hopefully I won't provide too much entertainment:D. I apologize if I have offended either of you.

I was only trying to post some helpful information ... not all want to wait / pay for custom made plugs ...
They just so easy to make and you get a perfect fit with J-B Weld .
If you have a good suggestion ... pass it along ...
we all sailing in the same reloading boat .

Guess you didn’t read post # 15 either😄

On the subject, I've been wanting to get some 1/2 x 20 seating stems for my cast bullets that are completely flat, not with that lip that the SWC style they offer have.

So I started with the the online contact form since it was outside of business hours last night when I decided to finally inquire. Someone contacted me back this morning saying they didn't do custom stems and dies anymore and referred me to a couple places.

I thought that was strange considering Irishlad just got one, so I called a few minutes ago and talked to a gent named Larry in the sales department. He chuckled when I told him the story and noted down all the sizes I wanted and took my info. Said he'd take some stems down today or tomorrow and machine the faces flat for me.

Sometimes it pays to just give them a ring!

I too am curious about any advantages of a custom plug vs. a homemade one - other than that a custom plug obviously takes less effort!
