hey all i just picked up a cheap green machine and i am coverting it to 9mm and 223. im having all of the conversion parts machined since there isnt any new parts being made for the green machine. i have swapped the primer system to a dillon type set up already and i added a bolt to the front mounting plate to cut down on the flexing of the head. so here is my question to all of the green machine gurus out there are there any other mods that i should do to this machine that you guys have found out to work well

Welcome to the forum.

The Green Machine is a pretty old design, and never was that popular, so be patient. Seems like there are a couple of guys that have them. Whether they are regular posters on the forum is the next question.

You might post on AR15.com and thefiringline.com as well.

Green Machine Conversion

I am interested in your project. What was the green machine originally set up for? What was required to change it over to the other calibers, and how expensive was it?

I know the Green Machine came in 357 Magnum. I had a friend who had one. I suppose it could do 38 Special as well but i do not know for certain.

I believe I have heard about 45 ACP Green Machines but I could be wrong. i do not know of any others, but, again, I could be wrong.

I believe the machine used standard dies and the RCBS Little Dandy powder measure.

The machine was a linear machine as opposed to the circular machines that virtually all home progressives are today.

That has exhausted all my knowledge of the Green Machine.

ok update on the conversion i had to make new transfer paws which was pretty easy using some .100 steel i had laying around (had to make new ones to account for the change in case size). and i took the shell plates that came with it and chamfered them to a 45 degree angle so that 9mm and .223/5.56 would ride in them nice and smooth and i had to cut down the case feed bar to the same size as a 9mm shell and i added a case feed tube inside where the cases feed in so that way they dont slide to the left when cycling the machine and i had to drill and shape a hole in the case feed mount to account for the hight difference of a 223/556 so far everything is working out well and i will post pics when i get the machine all done

Rcbs green machine

Hi, I was reading the forum and saw that you were going to make a conversion of different sizes in the rcbs green machine. finished? have photos of how it turned ?.
I would like you to help me, I bought a green machine and I would like to do the same as you

cain hasn't been posting here for quite a while. I noticed clicking his underlined name on the left of his last post, that he lists an email address. You'd be more likely to get his attention my emailing him concerning his classic Green Machine.

Then maybe he'll rejoin us with a few posts in this old thread....and let us all know how his project turned out.;)

Welcome to the forum yourself! :)
