RCBS has updated their powder handling machine again......and along with it a brand new web page design.....and updates on the Pro Chucker Series? Sigh, negative on that.

called what else......the MatchMaster Powder Dispenser

And Lee is on the move again....preorders for Christmas??:)

APP-PRESS-BULLET-SIZING.jpg Don't know if I can resist this.... the price...and sounds like fun. Who says a Cheap Christmas can't be fun! Swages pockets, even sizes lead bullets....they claim it's a perfect tool for powder coated bullets......and can be a reloading press too. Really................? ;)

I haven't been able to picture how or where it would mount on a bench or high mount. I don't want to dedicate floor space to a Lee stand. Will have to wait for that to all come clear.

Double jeopardy,,, TWO new items,,,

Can't help but notice TWO dispensing tubes on that MatchMaster,

In all honesty, the larger 2nd tube is really what has my interests peaked. Not so much for faster rifle loads but for pistol loads using low density powders.

Double jeopardy? Well I'm not in the contests....just reporting the news.:D

On the one hand we have Lee, who is promising this new product this time of year to start the juices flowing.....one tool to do lots of things....and the insinuation is you might possibly get it by Christmas. Maybe.....but Dec. 1 is the soonest you can pre-order....then they have 24 days to finish the product and ship it by Christmas......they didn't actually promise that of course. ;) But the price is totally Lee. $75 or $110 list price!

On the other hand we have a the Match Master Powder Dispenser, that lists for a cool $1,124!! (Midway price $899!) on back-order from RCBS....but Midways estimated in-stock date is 11-20-2019!

Double jeopardy? Don't think so.....on the Lee side.....customer jeopardy.....will the product work as advertised?...they will likely sell truckloads. On the RCBS side.....at that price? Manufacturers jeopardy. I can't afford one of those......but then people buy 1050's and Mark 7's.....so what do I know. o_O

RCBS says, "One MatchMaster in Match Mode can dispense charges at the same speed as TWO ChargeMasters. One MatchMaster in Standard Mode can dispense charges at the same speed as THREE ChargeMasters." Impressive?

Yes, the price..........it blows me away that people would put that kind of money in an accessory to a reloading tool. Not for me.....cheap and old fashioned.....and ancient.;) I like RCBS, but not that much. If Lee's tool turns out to be useful......that.....I will buy. But you first.:)

That scale that is .04 accurate at $899? Thats gonna be a hard pass. An FX120i is .02 accurate.

And at that price? Go with an AutoTrickler setup for the same price. Very likely faster and uses a FX120i for its scale.

RCBS missed the market with this scale. Its not accurate enough to compete at this price point, and I seriously doubt its faster. For $600 they might have a winner.

Okay, Kaldor, what autotrickler setup are you referring to???? An Fx120i is out of my range of interest as well.....I don't need to load hundreds of trickled loads a week like some must.....

Check it out:

I honestly consider this to be the best system at this price point. Might even be better than the much vaunted Promethius.

That Lee press is pretty cool though. Hook that up to a case feeder and rock and roll prepping brass

Wow.. I spent earlier part of the year making my little automated bullet sizer and now they have this. There's a company that builds a version of this that is gonna be pretty sad. -

Pretty cool looking but, since I don't do a lot of reloading I guess I'll keep using my RCBS Chargemaster 1500. :)

Kaldor: Wow, $490 for the powder dispensor/trickler, and $597 for the Fx120i scale on sale, $1,087 for the trickler and the scale! My how things have changed since I started reloading in 1974.;)
It'll be interesting to see if RCBS's product finds a niche at $899. I don't know how much more important .02 grain vs. .04 grain accuracy is, since I don't load for competition (and never will). Somebody educate me, please. :)

Two questions: Will the convenience of having everything in one fairly compact footprint make a difference to people as much as the accuracy difference? $186 difference?
I notice that the RCBS unit comes with a bluetooth app....as does the other system.....interesting stuff!

Wait.......THREE products......an Auto Thrower as well. From CE products you get all three for $960. And now I understand they add electronics to the scale to make it work together. Now the only plus on RCBS's side seems to be the powder Hopper size.....and maybe speed. RCBS says they can drop 38.5gr of H4350 in under 7 seconds in the slow Match Mode. I was watching the video of the other unit (I don't know how much they were dispensing) but it took 10 to 12 seconds.....maybe apples and oranges...no idea what they were loading or how much.

The next question everybody wants to know......Warranties?

You can get to .04 gn resolution for a lot less than $899.

If you already have a beam scale and powder measure, you can get there under $100.

$899 is a lot for a powder dispenser. I am sure its state of the art and accurate. I will stick with my Hornady for the time being. The new Lee Press looks interesting to say the least. Might bite on that one.

Both posts after mine...true & true. Would have to be lifetime warranties to be worth the speed and convenience but I'll bet they are not even close. But again this is obviously for those fanatical about competition....so I can't relate....just trying to understand.

The Lee addition may be the cat's meow.....and we all may want one or even have to have one..............or not. Remains to be seen. Life is interesting. ;)

I own and use a lot of Lee products but I doubt this will be one of them.

No matter how good that powder measure is from RCBS I can't do $900 to throw powder. I'm happy with my Lyman #55 and RCBS 1010 scale.

I do appreciate the information, thank you. It's good to know what's out there.

The RCBS Powder dispenser is electronic. I seriously doubt it would have a warranty much longer than a year.

The Lee press looks interesting for bullet sizing.

It comes in at about $900ish but you may have to shop around for the scale. I know a guy in one of the FB groups Im in that just put his together for $850, but I cant remember where he bought his scale.

.02gr is the weight of one kernel of Varget if I remember right. But I think the big thing will be what type of scale did RCBS use? The strain gauge scale on the CM1500 is prone to creeping because its a strain gauge. The FX120 is an actual load cell which is faster and far superior. The CM1500 is right around .06 accurate from what I have seen, or at least mine is verified vs my 505. Even still I watch my zero weight as I know my pan weighs 149.7gr and everytime I pick up the pan I verify its going to -149.7gr without the pan on the scale. The most annoying thing however isnt the over throws, but the constant wandering, where I have to drop 14 charges to get 10 where the scale settled.

But as you pointed out, do we really need this level of accuracy? Honestly, probably not. I constantly remind people that guy were shooting groups in the .100's with nothing more than a beam scale and a hand trickler in the 80s. However when I see guys that shoot consistent .200" 5 shot groups with sub 5fps SDs, I start to pay attention to what they are doing, trying to find ways I can improve my process. My groups hover right in the .400" range, and my SDs seem to be right around 10-12, so there is room for improvement in my ammo development. But then again, I could just suck as a shooter :)
