Good friend came over last Sat. We BBQed 5 lbs of Elk Steaks. These came from the Indian Rez down in Idaho. He's not a hunter, but his relatives are.
While we were eating, he says I'm invited to come over and hunt on the reservation down by Pocatello, Idaho. Sho-Ban Tribe, Fort Hall Reservation.
I want to go. But, next day, a friend tells me I'll have to get a State of Idaho Non-Resident and a regular tag. Hmm, my research revealed nothing about a non-Indian, non-resident hunting on sovereign territory, which I'm assuming to have its own rules.
I went to the local Indian websites, and find no information.
Non-Resident license and Elk tag for State of Idaho will cost me about $470.
Anybody in the know? I would like to go. The window of opportunity comes right at the same time my vacation time accrues for the year. Don't think I'll go if I have to pay big time.
I'll just hunt in Oregon, later in the year, if I can't go.
Thanks in advance for any insights.
