Today's data:
Great reactive target: metal coffee can. Turn it upside down, poke a hole in the bottom, tie a knot in one end of a string and run it through, tie it to a stand. It works even better when you jam rolled up newspaper or catalouge inside to help absorb energy from the round to the can. When hit the can swings and the can holds up to a pretty thorough beating from a .22.
Pretty good:
Pie tin. They don't swing as much but they hold up pretty well, they're shiny, and they show larger holes than the round that went through them making a .22 easy to see from a distance.
As always, any plastic container with a couple of drops of food color and filled to the brim with water works well. Newer water bottles that have thinner walls to be more "eco-friendly" bust even more easily and with more spectacular results.
Marshmallow still suck. .22 caliber rounds pass right through.
Next project: redneck spinners. Since my local range only allows wooden stands/constructs I'm going to make a couple total wood spinners. Should be really simple and source of giggles for the kids. Pics to follow soon.
