I'm considering parting ways with my P6. Haven't made up my mind - I might sell, I might try to trade, I might keep. Just trying to get a reasonable asking price.

It's marked 5/95, made in W. Germany. The package would include:

P6 pistol (going rate $400 or so?)
-Refinished in House Black Cera-Hide by CCR in Tennessee - cost $150 or so on special. Cleaned up some finish issues and the nasty importer's markings that chipped up the factory finish. Still looks new and they even re-did the bar and dot on the sights with new bright white paint.
-Hogue G10 grips ($100) (original grips included)
-5 factory Sig magazines ($35-40 each new)
-5 Brad Davis baseplates - nicely made, anodized aluminum replacement baseplates that remove the pinky rest. I have big hands and these are more comfortable for me as my fingers aren't compressed together on the grip. These were $15 each.
-I've got a couple spare parts, in particular the original slide stop, which I replaced with the newer version. I also have a cheap kydex paddle holster that came to me with the gun. I haven't used it more than twice and never since the refinish, so no wear on the gun from that. These items are essentially worthless but will be included.

So, theoretically the whole thing cost $850-$900 to put together but naturally that's a ridiculous asking price... any thoughts from the community? I'll also say that the gun runs great and shoots quite well - but I would be expected to say that ;)

Thanks!

The problem is that's a gun that only speaks to specific number of gun owners and all of the extras kind of put you behind the 8 ball in terms of money. Knowing that you have $850-$900 invested in a gun that's no longer in production, worth limited parts availability, and no factory service is going to turn a lot of people off. If someone came to me looking to trade that package in, I would offer someone $650 and try to resell for $725 knowing that I'd have a hard time finding a buyer and might be holding onto it for a while.

Sorry to say that, like most gun modifications, you aren't likely to get anywhere your cost out of those changes. I'd say that the P6 is certainly worth $400-$425.00 if it's running well and the extra mags. could get you another $10 each, but that's about it. I had a P6 and, while it's a great, well made pistol, it's still just an older single-stack 9mm, a bit larger and heavier than what's in favor today, and parts could be an issue. That's just my call and YMMV.

I have no illusions about getting "what it's worth" - that never happens. I actually got this gun and the mags in trade, the only money I've got in it is the refinish and the grips. I threw out the above numbers as a starting point only.

I really am torn. I have other guns I shoot better but for some reason this thing appeals to me anyway. I think if I do anything I'll offer it in trade - most likely for a Mk III Hi-Power. Otherwise I'll hang onto it.

You'd likely do better selling the gun separately from the mags and the G-10 grips.

The base pads won't bring anything extra, but would help the mags sell faster.

The refinish should also help the gun sell faster, but most folks won't pay extra, over the going price of the gun, for it. Some folks would prefer the original finish on a P6. I sold one of mine recently for $450 with all the original wear (included 2 mags, original matching plastic box and issued leather holster)

The mags would be easy to move at $20 each and the Grips should fetch $50...so packaged together for $100. (the gun is usually sold with 2 mags, so you'd be selling 3 with the grip)

Added to the price you should be able to get for the gun and you should be above $500

I think 9mmepiphany has it right: you would do better selling off the mags, grips, and other accessories separately and then selling or making a deal with just the P6.

When I price out modded guns I don't add value for a refinish and unless it's modded exactly how I want, I give %50 for the parts.
About 600-650 sounds about right
