Reason to Carry at Work

only you

can decide if you should break a condition of your employment.
i will remind you though, that the greatest weapon you have at your disposal is between your ears, it may not be as macho as using a gun to save yourself or others but it can extract you from some pretty bad situation if used properly!

I carry at work regardless of the NO CARRY policy. I work at a car dealership - alot of pissed off people (that's only my fellow employees :fire: ) I'll take my chances. Many other places I can go work. :D

I've violated policy in previous employment as well. I was still within the law, however, and as far as the company goes, it's only a violation if one is caught. 'Carrying weapons onto company property is grounds for immediate termination,' or something to that effect, is what the policy said. They layed out the condition, I weighed the consequences with the risks, and made my decision. This was a job where I worked alone through the night with varying amounts of cash in my care.

What the hell is this, the Food Liberation Front?

Let's see. List of domestic leftist (that is, Marxist/socialist) terrorist groups:

- ELF
- ALF
- FALN
- now, the FLF?

You've got the Arian Nation, yes; but I can't think of any 'right wing' groups. And no, I'm not justifying the Ayrian Nation in the last; I just haven't heard of them doing anything. The above groups, on the other hand...

Remember that Sears Tower murder? The guy that killed 5 for messing up his patent on truck comodes? The Rent-a-Cops escorted him to the elevator. Don't rely on anyone to protect you, make a plan.

Actually due to the same company policy the rent a person cannot carry either:uhoh: can you say Cannon fodder?
I am sure that corp is doing every thing they can to trace the wacko that this came from. N I did notice all the spelling errors in the message, kind of makes me think a 15 year old wrote it.
Actually I believe were they to strike it would be someplace more visible and news worthy that our site.
My primary point here is a great many people go to work every day unable to defend them self from any threat, even though they may be licensed. Tis a sad thing.:banghead:

Anyone that graduated from high school after 1994 could have written that letter :D
All I can say is P3AT is your friend.

Carry at Work

I cannot carry at work now due to the high level of security involved (metal detectors). However, when I worked at AOL, I carried until I quit. Until I quit only one person knew I carried, and that was because we shared a small cube and she bumped into me once and figured it out.

I carried at my one job with my bosses knowing even though it was against
company policy.Could have something to do with my bosses used to be the
the owners and when were bought out a few of them got screwed. My other job is kind of hard to carry at being it would violate my state cpl laws of carrying inside a casino_On top of that even though the casino is a tribal casino, the Tribe does not recognize my cpl as a valid carry but i leave it in my car(Loaded) reguardless because since the tribe is
Federally subsidized i Dont Recognize them as a Sovereign Nation.

I CAN carry at work

And we also have a hidden gun I can get to quick if I don't carry to work. I'm lucky that the owner and president of the company don;t mind if I carry at work as long as the gun is actually conceiled and the bulk of our clients don't know I have it. I work in the film and video industry in this job I am talking about and most of our clients are very liberal but don;t seem to mind that I am a gun carring conservative! They all like me a lot and since they do I am accepted by even the most liberal of them. They even make jokes about comming to my house if the crap ever hits the fan!

Breaking company policy is your decision. I've been at a lot of companies over the years, and they have all had such a policy. I have carried a Spyderco clipped to my pocket at most of them, and nobody has ever said anything, much to my surprise. As for a CCW, I'll only say that I have had my CPL since 1994, and the majority of time I have exercised my right.

In my last job, I was responsible for securing, documenting, and dispensing narcotics at a pharmaceutical plant.
Did I mention that:
- I worked an overnight shift with only 2 or 3 people on site at a time?
-That the building had big glass doors on the front with no crash barriers to protect them?
-That the company president talked about what we worked with and what we did in a Sunday edition of the Milwaukee paper?
-And best of all, the narcotics I was responsible for included several hundred kilos of Morphine, Codeine, Hydrocodone, and even THC- all of pharmaceutical grade purity?
-There was no armed security on site?

Anyone want to take a guess as to how nervous I was working there without even considering that firearms were strictly verboten?

My employment has no "policy" on the matter but several people carry. Unfortunately, I can carry in one building but the other is a secured area so I cant carry there. The locked drawer works when out of the office and is unlocked when I return.

Carry at work

I work at a nuke plant and carry even anywhere close company property is a termination offense. That don't mean I like it but what else can I do?

KELTEC 380

I carry a Kel tec P3 with a spare 7 round magazine in "forbiden to carry here" location on a daily basis, and feel pretty well armed if SHTF. Some people might argue against the stopping power of .380 but Ammo manufacturers have come a long way with good expanding rounds nowadays. Cant beat a gun that weight less than a soda can and is as less than 1 inch wide.:)

My company has a "depend on the unarmed old man in a security uniform, he'll call the cops for you" policy. I'm thinking of investing in a P3AT.

Kel-tec P-3AT and an extra mag in a SmartCarry disappears in all normal clothes. With a little practice you can draw from the smart carry faster than from a pocket holster. If you follow the instructions for wear the back band isn't a problem. You put it on so it's on the outside of your shirt in the front and you pull your shirt out over it in the back.

My boss,(the owner), carries. I carry. two other guys carry and two of the ladies plan to. That would be six of eleven. Generally, our area goes for months without incident. ( I've worked at this location 35 years) Lately the B.G.'s have compressed the spread a little so we're all glad to have a gun or two on site.

Os for your situation...stay on your suppervisor. Make him/her spell out the real security safty measures Hound them to death about it...and keep a copy of that "threat". Wave it in their face once in a while. :D
Mark.

no CCW... yet. But; on topic, my company has a loose "bring you're new gun to work" policy, the president of our little shop said "boy this gun likes to be pointed at things" as he handled my gp100 behind the building. so i don't think they would mind

(unloaded and the things he was pointing at where dirt and asphalt)

Small shops/companies are great for that sometimes. The last place I was at was like that. One of our helicopter mechanics brought in his 10/22 to massage the new stock to fit his hew bull barrel. Fun times! It also helped that we had an indoor range within walking distance for "offsite lunch meetings". I miss that place.:(

I carry at work... Always. I carry a full sized Colt Gov't model in a Blade-Tech Ultimate Concealment Holster. I am 6', 170# and am able to conceal it well even in a shirt and tie outfit. There are times when I go to offices that probably prohibit CCW (unknown for certain... Not posted and never asked. Concealed means concealed.) Nobody has been the wiser.

I currently work as an account manager for a professional cleaning company; and while the job itself is not inherently hazardous, I routinely have to be in very very bad parts of town. Usually alone and late at night. I've had one attempted carjacking and one attempted mugging - both avoided and nobody hurt because I was carrying a gun, exercised sound judgment, and didn't wet myself.

My employer knows I carry and approves.
