243 winchester shooting 100grain nosler partition...anyone got somewhere to start? remington 700lss

Second the motion...

Go In Deep--I can only echo Scotty's sentiment: IMR 4350 works great in my Ruger M77 Mk II Target rifle in .243 Win.

A 100 grain Nosler partition pushed by 39.5 grains of IMR4350 out of my Winchester Model 70 has accounted for five one-shot kills on white tail deer here in Texas. Not a one moved more than 50 feet from where it was hit. That load provides one MOA accuracy out of my rifle.

I use the exact same load in my Model 70. I have used it for years and it has always given me the bang/dead. Excellent accuracy also.

I've had pretty good luck with 32.0gr Varget under a 100gr Hornady BTSP...never used it on deer but it kills the paper plenty dead!

I'm using H4895 exclusively.

Prairie dogs in 112 degree heat, deer in 15 degrees. No perceptible change in pressure, POI, etc.

Matter of fact, I've started working up 30-30, 270, and 308 loads in H4895 because I like it so much!

Also - the Hogdgon load data has H4895 as the only powder they recommend for reduced loads - I've made my nephew (12 years old) some reduced loads behind a Barnes Triple-Shock for this year (his first) deer hunt. Plenty of power to go through a wet Minneapolis/St. Paul phone book, but feels like a 223 on the shoulder!

I've been trying 45g IMR 7828 under a 100g SP.

Since I like 4350 so much in my '06 and been using it for so many years, I might try it in the .243 on your recommendations.

Might even try it in a 6.5-06. Been using 47g IMR 4831 in that under a 140g NP.

My .243 load is H4350 with 100-gr Hornady Interlock SP bullets, WIN primer, Ruger 77 MkII.

Easily less than 1-MOA from a good rest, which isn't real world during hunting. It's the first "cold shot" that matters. But it's nice to know anyway.

Another fan of IMR 4350 with the Nosler partition 100gr. Based on loading data from the Speer #10 manual, I always trickle charged the casings to 40.0 gr on a manual scale, and felt that it was more than adequate. No chroney so I don't know how fast it's moving. I believe it was the #10 manual that listed a max charge of 42.0 gr. I do remember that my loads were less than the maximum recommended charge.

Interestingly, one of the current reloading manuals lists a max charge at 39.5 gr. It was either Lyman #48 or Speer #13, I can't remember which but think it was Lyman (I'm at work). The other manual lists slightly more.....

I have had very good luck with IMR 4831, H4350 and H414/WW760. In my experience mag primers always got the best groups with H414, and it meters like water if that matters.

If I had to pick one, make mine H414, which I kinda liken to "Ball 4350".

Sorry, I had a brain-fart and didn't answer the question. IMR 4350 or Varget have worked well for me with the 100g bullets.

In the last .243 I had, after trying all the ususal suspects (Imr4350, H4350, IMR4831, H4831, H414, Varget, IMR4064, H4895) I finally tried RL22 as Nosler manual #4 says it gave them the best accuracy with best velocities.

Me too!

I worked up to their max of 42.5gr, which coincidentally was the max in my rifle too. (Stevens M200).

I got 3,050fps from the 22"bbl with the Hornady 100gr BTSP, and sub-moa accuracy for 3 shots @ 100yds.

My brother however prefers the IMR4831 in his Savage M110. He's never tried RL22, however !
